While I agree with you, I'm assuming the suspension was because of the court case rather than the sex tape???

The NRL said today that Parramatta Eels player, Corey Norman will be suspended for eight rounds of the 2016 Telstra Premiership.  

The suspension will run from Round 19 (when Norman was stood down) through to the end of Round 26.

In addition, he will be fined $20,000.

NRL Head of Integrity, Nick Weeks said the penalty relates to the following matters involving Norman:
• His conviction for drug possession at The Star casino
• A police warning for consorting with known criminals at the casino
• Filming incidents involving apparent drug use and sexual activity
• Distributing video of those incidents to other NRL players

Mr Weeks said the Integrity Unit had interviewed Norman this week and had decided, with the support of the Parramatta club, to impose the penalties described above.

"The message is clear… players cannot put themselves in a position where they may damage their own reputations and that of the game," Mr Weeks said.

"We have been consistent this year in imposing strong penalties where players bring the game into disrepute through actions off the field.

"Whether it is drug possession, criminal associations or social media use, players understand the consequences that can flow from illegal or other unacceptable conduct.

"While it is a regrettable trend in society for people to look to sell footage of sports stars in their private lives there is an easy solution for our players – do not engage in activity which will damage their reputation or that of the game."


The NRL are still worried the Eels will make the 8. Watch out for a few death sentences to be issued to be sure to be sure.

So, the big questin now is who do we chase, who is out there worth looking at. We have a bucketload of cash to splash, so who will get some of it?

Its definitely not the end of the world for the Eels.
Now instead of investing a mil in 1 player (eg Titans with DCE) they can invest a mil in 3/4 quality players (eg the Titans) - which will then lead to the signing of the superstar later down the track.

Gutherson now has the chance to play fullback - and he will be very fucking good for the club. Hooker and halfback are the problems now... Maybe they can poach Elgey or Taylor in a few years. Also, Tyrone roberts will be looking for a new home come next season.. he could be an OK stopgap player for the eels.

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed given I'm such a fan but I'm not that concerned for the club and can see plenty of upside. Gutherson will be a solid FB. How long is TTurbo locked away for?  Pearce needs to get out of Bondi, I'd happily have him partner Norman and I reckon Pearce would come at a decent price. Not interested in Roberts.  Would love to Bring Peats back in 2018. Sam Williams from Canberra I reckon would be a good foil for Norman also and he wouldn't cost much.

Maybe we offer Farah a lifeline for two years at not very much at all.  Could almost pick him up for $200k. Given Tigers know they are gonna have to pay the bulk of his $900k or not have access to any of that money.  Better him playing elsewhere for $700k and having access to the 200k than have him in your ressies causing problems for $900k.

Cronk, what is he doing? He is due for a challenge, see if he is any good without Smith.

Supposedly Tigers willing to pay Farah 600k next year so the Eels should look at him considering it'll only be 300k the problem is he will want a 2-3 year deal and he isn't worth it.

I'd be all over Jackson Hastings, him and Norman would be a great long term combo.
