I have a basically autofilled team for now until TLT. (I feel like I say that every year though).

Great amount of discussion going on about players, teams, how the season is going to start, team-structure strategies, positional value. Love it.

Tbh every autofill team I did looked better than the one I put together Laughing

my tv broke wrote:Slightly different point of discussion - it seems like the refs will be ordered to 'let the game flow' this year, there won't be a penalty crackdown to start the year. Does this mean teams like the Storm start a little better, and in general, does this have any sort of flow on effect to the way different players will score?

This makes me happy. Even though the NRL had the best intentions to speed up the game, they weren't able to change much with teams willing to cop penalties or more likely, just plain unable to adjust.

I actually think this might speed up the game compared to last year, resulting in tired forwards > zippy players benefitting. But I don't think the differences will be too big for fantasy purposes.

On a side note, I'm looking at Finucane (529k) as a bit underpriced as he had a down year 2018 and is priced at 35 whereas he was hitting 47 (2016) and 44 (2017) when playing for 61.5 minutes two years prior. His selection depends on how B.Smith will be used though and how the minutes are shared at the Storm.

Bear in mind that ownership % at the moment doesn't reflect all teams, as many still haven't filled out their 21 positions properly. All "popular" players will likely see some (probably very slight) rise in ownership from now up to the beginning of round 1. #meaninglesspost

I see B Smith playing 35 this year. Doubt Storm can keep him around giving him 25 mins.

I will preface this with 'yes I realise this is a joke' however we did talk about creating an ACTUAL cookie cutter team this year.
    Voting on players/trades etc.

Anyone still keen on being involved? Doesn't have to be everyone or we can select a panel or change who is in control each week etc.

    Thoughts?

Could be an interesting benchmark + social experiment.

Seen a lot of Warriors promotional material featuring Keighran lately. Not sure what to read into that if anything.

A starting lock priced at 30, who will play big minutes. Showed good scores in big minutes last year. Good luck to anyone who doesn’t pick him.

After doing some research, sounds like Lawrie would start for 2 games. Kims suspended for 2 games.

I'm keen to contribute, I just cant do any heavy lifting / organising. I'm away for the two weeks before the season starts (shit timing). That'll be the crunch cookie cutter finalisation window

Cookie cutter? Is that a team we all vote for then vote on each trade?

I tried to get a POD team and wisdom of crowds team going on the website in the past but it didn't quite follow the vision I had but I'd love to see someone go about it. One of the things about PODs is it can be difficult to judge true PODs, by this I mean there's 100k teams but most of us really only care about the top 1k, because ownership levels are based on all the teams it doesn't really do a good job of telling us the PODs that could impact us.

FRF is a really weird position in cookie cutter team. The top pick Haas is a bench player. I couldn't even get another FRF on the bench (no money left for Fifi). The 5th most popular guy is someone I have never even heard of, R Hunt from Canberra at 12%. Getting FRF right could make a huge difference over other teams that may struggle with it.
