Bulldogs start with Warriors (A), Eels and Tigers (A) so not a bad opening draw.

I'm not choosing between Holland and Capewell, they are my set and forget centers for the year (maybe add Bateman later if he does great).

Corey Allen named at fullback in Souths trial team

Its pretty much a reserve grade team, which would suggest he is not being considered as a first grade starter at this point

Ash Taylor and potentially Jake Clifford.

Come to think of it if Michael Gordon ain't at fullback and given the Titans hopefully will have less injuries this year maybe Ash Taylor can rise to near keeper status.

For some reason Michael Morgan ain't filling me with much confidence.

I'm picking Clifford if named. If he isn't I'm picking Morgan.

He ranks poorly, with a 13, despite giving him a 9 point head start on his current price point, assuming he averages 35 on the wing.

The key things that count against him in my ranking system are:
    1. Doesn't play the first bye
    2. Won't be a keeper, so would require a trade at some point
    3. Place in the side isn't guaranteed. Ryan Hall is highly rated and could take his spot when back from injury
    4. Relies on form change, not increased minutes
    5. Not dual position

I did give him a bonus point for playing in the Roosters vs last year at Dogs.

Highly owned players that scored poorly in my ranking system that I won't be playing this season:
Morgan (+9 undervalued, scored 13) - Origin player so no byes, not a keeper, relies on form change, not dual position
Gillett (+12 undervalued, scored 13) - Uncertain minutes to start the season, not a keeper at 2RF even at 50 points, Origin Player so no byes, not dual position, coming back from a serious injury
Bird (+14 undervalued, scored 13) - Relies on form change, not a keeper even at 35 points, not dual, doesn't play Bye 1. This is on the assumption he gets back to scoring like he did in 2016 (35 average, that I have valued him at) and 2017 (33 average) vs 2018 form (21 average).

Doesn't Bird and Morgan make the cut simply for money making? Literally the whole point of the first half of the season. If Bird scores 35+ he'll peak at $230k worth of price rises

Goalkicking Holland probably a bit better than Capewell.

He has form going back 3 years, its only some low minute interchange games that have him cheap this year.

Capewell is also tempting, but has Aubbs like job security. Might lose his spot (if he even gets it to start with) when Graham returns, but that is far enough into the season not to be a major concern. If it does happen ideally can just switch to Mitchell/Marsters/gun option

Jack Wighton has confirmed he’ll be partnering Aidan Sezer in the halves for the Green Machine in 2019.
The Raiders long-term fullback will switch to five-eighth, with Ricky Stuart hoping his dangerous running game will complement Sezer’s game management.
No shock on Wighton, was first picked in my team. His comments about defence is part of the reason. The papa stuff is a bit surprising, I guess though there was some article recently that said tarps would be in the middle this year so that lines up with that.
Assuming left edge papa, that would put him back with Croker and Cotric, with I guess Smelly joining leipana again (or leifield/oldlua for the first half of the year) and bato at lock perhaps. Could get on board with that.

If you genuinely think someone is undervalued by 14 points (over $200k) and your system tells you not to pick them, then I do not trust your system.

For Jack Bird, I have doubts as to whether he actually will average 35 points a game, so there are valid questions about his value, but there are very few players that will actually make $200k in the first 2 months of the comp. If you think you've found one, they are in your team regardless of origin/byes/draw

Maybe its just media talk, but Stuart always seems so unsure of where his players are going to play. I don't see how that can be a good thing for training.

Not for me. I have another starting half that I see as better value, despite less points differential. One of the hard things to do is to spend all your cash on the right guns that have upside potential and you can keep them all year. In round 12 the gun that is starting gets an extra 50 points that Morgan doesn't, making up an extra 4 points average over the first 12 rounds. On that basis they are more undervalued than Morgan is.

Morgan also costs a trade to upgrade ahead of round 12.

In Birds position I can get the same points differential with less risk and have keepers for the season, not relying on form change, just continuation of the form shown previously.

When you read season reviews by people who win/do well, normally they have very few players that stay in their team all year. Maybe 3 or so.

Make of that what you will
