I too like pearce at 9 as I have said many many times. I feel we would be a better impact 14 coming on at 9 and back row though, which means we would need a defensive 9 to start the game.

Slade griffin doesnt have much attack in him but fuck me dead his defence is good. Hes come from melbourne, won a gf. IMO he certainly wouldnt look out of place defending in origin, then he can be used in the back row when pearce comes on at 9.

With the way Keary has played tonight, I dont want him any fucking where near the NSW team.

I think Greens age works in his favour. We know he isn't a long term solution. NSW don't have two homes games do they, so we aren't going to win the series anyway, so I say spell clearly given his injury and run with the two old stagers and see what they can do as opposed to throwing in a half with inferior form.

Bird has been playing ordinary in the couple of games he’s played this year but if the rumour of him playing 6 (with Milf 7) at theBroncos is correct, and goes okay, he might only be a few good weeks off playing there for NSW with Maloney at 7.

just puts more pressure on maloney, you can have success with jack bird there in club level, you won't win a series in the halves at origin level. i think he still a good chance for either centre/utility but he does still look overweight this year and i think thats hurting his form


gotta also keep in mind, our main fullback and hooker options don't really have a kicking game, we need 2 halves that can kick or the kick pressure would be insane for the lone kicker


Blake Green should'nt not be picked because he isn't young, he has played well for 2 years + 5 games now with 5 completely different halves. His experience and composure would be a good thing, i think if clearly isn't healthy, he is the best option next to maloney


i'm not sure if cook is an 80 minute origin hooker but geez he could offer somthing when the big middles get tired in origin, wouldn't mind the idea of having a defensive hooker for 25-30 and letting cook play out the rest of the game.

bloody oath cook should be there. he has been prob the form hooker of the comp this year. His speed off the mark in the middle of the field would be amazing late in the half.
If peats or mcinnes is the hooker then we seriously need a 9 on the bench and cook covers hooker and can play a bit of back row too.

with mansour out and hayne playing wing now - will be interesting to see what happens there too

Gutherson is a mistake outside Roberts. Gutho's best asset is having the ball in his hands, he'd never get the ball outside Jimmy.

Yeah it's a massive loss for NSW losing Pearce and I also think Clearly would have made his debut alongside him this year.

With them both out (assuming Cleary doesn't return....which wouldn't surprise me), Maloney is a lock and his partner could be Keary or Moylan but I would personally select Adam Reynolds (assuming he isn't injured between now and then).

So maybe Jimmy is a mistake inside Gutherson. Gutho brings a millions times more of what we need in the NSW side than Roberts. Guo is as true a team man as you can get, has talent to burn, a great ethic on and off the field and is a back line member Fittler could build a culture around.

Roberts might be faster and have more freakish talent, but Gutho is heart, sole and dedication. I'd love him to be there.

It'd be pretty rare to pick a centre to play inside a winger, as opposed to the other way round. But. Totally agree on the Gutho love. I wouldnt have Roberts anywhere near a rep side but Gutho would be a good fit for any side.

No Aitken? Please... dude has been brilliant in defence all season and also has an attacking game, he is perfect for Origin.
