Based purely on this series origin players excluding retirees.

Well Slater being the Wally Lewis medal winner you would have to pick him over Teddy.

Surely after Slater, best on ground for the Maroon's was Sutton.

Pretty sure Slater has retired from rep footy now.

I'd imagine it would be something like this:

    Tedesco
    Holmes
TTrbojevic (he has to be centre next year for the Blues, if he isn't here then he must be on the wing)
Inglis (Mitchell if he retires, which he probably won't as he will want to be Aus Captain)
    Gagai
    Maloney
    Cleary
RCG (only one game but did enough in that effort to retain this jersey)
Cook (no brainer here, Hunt the danger though with the Qld bias from Mal)
    Klemmer
    JTrbojevic
    Cordner (reluctantly)
McGuire (wouldn't be my choice but understand why they might pick him)

Hunt, or maybe Munster, given he can cover 1-7 and Cook can punch out a quality 80.
    Frizell
    JDB
    Papalli

    Have I missed anyone obvious?

I’m confused, half the team is who you would pick half is who the selectors would pick.

    Anyway my team would be

    Tedesco
    JAC
    Mitchell
Inglis (good enough to switch sides)
    Holmes
    Munster
    Maloney
    RCG
    Cook
    Klemmer
    Frizell
    Cordner
    JTurbo

    Arrow
    Kaufusi
    JDB
    Ponga

    Gagai over TTrubo in Centre
    JAC over TTurbo on wing
Cooper + Kaufusi over Cordner + JDB.

If we are going on this series, Turbo is just about first outside back chosen, he will be there.

    Did Cooper play?

Nah, TTurbo wasnt even the best winger on his side, let alone picking him at centres, when he played all 3 games on the paint.

Cooper? Made 100m and 40 tackles / game. If you're going to put Cordner in there, Cooper is way in front of him.

Your obviously having a laugh re TTurbo, he did more work than any other 2, 3, 4, 5 All series and looked more threatening than any of them.

To be honest, I agree with Cooper/Cordner, pretty interchangeable in their non threatening, get through plenty of work way. If Cooper played for NSW and Cordner for Qld the result of the series is no differen for mine.

TTurbo had a cracker of a game 3 but JAC had a better game 1 and was slightly better in game 2. Over the series, JAC was better.

assuming you're wanting a real Australian side and not a 'merit team', i'd go:

    Tedesco
    Holmes
    Inglis
    Mitchell
    Gagai
    Maloney
    DCE
    RCG
    McCullough
    Klemmer
    Cordner
    Frizell
    JTurbo

    Cook
    Arrow
    McGuire
    Kaufusi

And to address the obvious before anyone else has a crack at me - a) i'm not McFlavour and b) i don't think McCullough is better than Cook, i just think tactically, that's the best option, Cook held his own in defence at Origin, but lets call a spade a spade, the QLD forward pack could be the weakest it's ever been, and when i think of all the other major international sides, their strength is in their forward packs, i think there's merit in the tactic Walters employed on Wednesday - put McCullough out there for the first 25-odd minutes, let him defend fresh-legged Taupau & friends, or the Burgesses & friends, or Taumalolo & friends, and then bring a fresh Cook in to take full advantage of what he does best.

    Ted
    Holmes
    Inglis
    Mitchell
TTrbo - he was nearly nsw best in all three games. you all are off your heads.
    Munster
    Maloney
    RCG
Cook - proved he can play 80 on the big stage and kill it
    Klemmer
    Cordner
    Friz
    Jtrbo

    Ponga
    mcguire
    jdb
then i duno... kaufusi i guess?

merit team with likely selection in brackets

    Teddy
    Ttrbo (gagai)
    Inglis
    Mitchell
    Holmes
    Munster
    Maloney
    Klemmer
    Cook
    Mcguire (RCG)
    Cordner
    Frizzell (Gillett if healthy)
    Jtrbo

    JDB
    Papali (utility, probably hunt)
    Arrow (Mcguire)
Kaufusi (frizzell, if gillett is healthy)

If there is only one positional debate that was settled over Origin it was the Smith replacement. It will be Cook and it should be, no other argument stacks up with any level of credibility.

I actually think Mal will go with this

    Teddy
    Holmes
    Inglis
    Chambers
    Gagai
    Munster
    Maloney
    RCG
    Cook
    Papalli
    Cordner
    Frizell
    McGuire

    Hunt
    Klemmer
    Kaufusi
    Trbojevic

I could deal with that team but think TTurbo would be the unluckiest of players.
