It's partly to give Burton a run, but also partly to avoid a Cleary injury

You don't win a comp with Luai and Burton halves, but you might win one with Cleary and Luai/Burton

Oh wait there is no one on the list. DallyM contenders don't get rested.

When I was reading some football forums last night I came across this....England & MU player Harry Maguire arrested in Greece for assaulting a police officer...and who said football players were cats.

Sorry mate. Just re read that and I sounded like a prick.

I have no idea if it’s a niggle or just better players are back.

Maybe take a punt on Hopo?

All good. I was just glad you gave me the heads up!

I’m sure whoever I pick I’ll be disappointed. Has shiba locked down the ctr spot at the knights now? I could possibly bring him back in.

Bellamy has certainly rested Dally M contenders multiple times.

This has been a more brutal season than in the past.

If they’re going to rest players it would be in the next 2-3 weeks. The last few weeks before the finals teams want to be locking down combinations and building momentum.

If Cleary goes down during the finals though, Burton would have to become the dominant kicker and game manager. It's better he gets a game or two with Luai rather than Nathan. If Luai went down, it'd be a lot simpler for Burton to come in and partner Cleary.

Also this is a season unlike any other. There probably won't even be a Dally M ceremony for players to attend. Injuries are mounting, depth is more important than ever and without reserve grade, anybody coming in during finals is going to have a tough task ahead of them.

If you owned Luai and not Cleary in your fantasy team, you'd be saying Cleary needs a rest as they have Luai there who's an adequate half to run the team.

Seriously, if you think coaches and players care about Daly M's when they are in serious contention to win the comp, I think you're mistaken.  If they have a spot wrapped up and a game means nothing, why risk Cleary?  Makes no sense.

At least you might get another game out of Mitch Kenny mate.

This argument is ridiculous. It proves that if you get rested you are less likely to win the Dally M, not that Dally contenders don't get rested.

Basically similar to if A causes B and B causes C then A must cause C, which of course is not the case.

Tedesco would be rested even if in dally m contention, do you think robbo gives a shit lol ? It really comes down to the coach and what he thinks is best for the player and the team.

List of previous seasons played in the middle of a global pandemic where the season was shortened, reserve grade was cancelled and byes were removed

    ........

Seasons normally have 2 built in rests - a bye and rep weekend. Plus a reserve grade comp. I just hastily (stupidly?) bought Cleary in, and I’ll be shocked in he’s not rested in R17, 19, or 20 (18 they play Parra so probably plays there)

Tedesco wasnt rested last season when he won it. Could he have been rested? Easily! Was he? No, because he had a chance to win the Dally M.

If Cleary wasnt in Dally M contention, for sure he gets a rest at some point. Because he is in contention, I think the odds that they rest him are low.

Normal seasons are longer, have no 2 month enforced break and have Origin and players backing up for their clubs during it.

Cleary has played 2 less games than Luai and is in Dally M contention, and people are saying they will rest Cleary ahead of him, laughable.

Tedesco was rested last year and also won the Dally M.

Or are we nitpicking over what round during the season these things happen.
