Well this year has really been a crash course in getting to know the relevant players.
Taking a step back and trying to have a bit more fun this year, will see how long that lasts 🤣.

Have put this together, fairly templatey by the looks and taking some inspiration from MattNZ this year for some fun. Will tinker a bit and tomorrow and see where we get too.

    Boyd
    Tapine, Tino, Carrigan
    EButcher, EKatoa
    Cleary, Doueihi
    Alamoti, HSS
    Ponga, Miller, Warbrick

    Cheese, Hopgood, Uto, Trindall
    Carty, Blore, IKatoa, Talau

Leaves me 175k in the bank

Ponga probably a mistake in the halves. Oh well ya live and learn, got a bit of cash in case I get cold feet on him.

Any options I may have missed just let me know, good luck to all this year.

Only thing I can pick out is the ponga/Miller combo. Knights do have a good draw though.
GTG if happy with those two imo. Good luck LB.

I don't quite get the Tapine love. Is there a reason you don't expect to see more of the same from last year?

answering cos I have him too,

the raiders have lost a few middles since last year, elliot and bateman, so I think he will continue to see big minutes, plus I think he is reaching his peak prowess as a player,

my biggest concern is sticky doing something rogue with his mins

Apparently Joseph and I are cousins through my old man 😂. I know that has no bearing on fantasy at all and no one in the team is safe from the chop at the moment but it’s kinda cool haha

    Round 1 Team

    Hodgson
    Tino, Carrigan, Welch
    Butcher, Katoa
    Cleary, Boyd
    HSS, Alamoti
    Ponga, Miller, Warbrick

    Cheese, Hopgood, Loiero, Sutton
    Trindall, Uto, Doorey, Talau

    Opening score of 763.
Very middle of the road, some good scores from the cheapies and some bad scores from those who should know better. Cheap CTRs after 1 round is a mistake so may need to fix that up this week.

1 trade I’m looking at is Cheese to IThompson, Trindall or Uto can come into the reserves and Thompson will take Alamotis place in the scoring 17, adds a bit more balance to the team and gives me a decent bank to attack next week should guys like Tino fail to show me something again

    Hope you avoided Thompson.

If it was me I’d look at maybe Uto to Carty (but I’m possibly too negative/I’ve made a quick call based on one game and some coaches comments).

If cheese injured maybe that opens up a trade and enough cash to get Tohu or gun of your choice. I wouldn’t want a gun CTR with three CTR cash cows clogging up 2 spots in your EMG. I also wouldn’t want to carry 4 CTRs - byes will mean these guys need to be played and that’ll suck.

Yeah I did manage to avoid Thompson, was bathing the new baby haha. He’s already looking after my best interests 🤣.

Yeah I feel like missing the Carty Party could be a big mistake but then again it is Carty and anything can happen with him. Maybe it’s best to follow the crowd at the moment and see how it pans out over the next couple of weeks. Hopefully makes a minimum of 100k for me and then can move on

So here we are heading into round 6 and I’m currently ranked 17,453. Not overly sure where the wheels have come off, team doesn’t look in terrible shape but I’ve only banked the 1 trade so far. Have 71k in the bank so don’t think I have room for any big moves.

Rat Pack FC - Team for Round 6

    Brailey
    Carrigan, Tino, Welch
    Katoa, Ford
    Cleary, SJ
    Lemmy, Alamoti
    Miller, Perham, Warbrick

    Hopgood, Carty, Preston, Loiero
    Uto, Sutton, Boyd, Trindall

Obviously TLT has thrown us a curveball in the form of Hopgood and Cartys unknown roles for this week, so they could be trades but might be best to wait and see. I have the option of playing them and hoping for similar outcomes or put a couple of the lads from emergency into the team.

At this stage I’ll probably play Uto and Sutton and hope Carty and Hops don’t lose too much cash.

Any thoughts on what could be done this week would be greatly appreciated. 😍

Don’t think you need such a stacked emergency,

I’d get rid of trindall and either Sutton, uto or carty and get a gun wfb, either turbo or walsh,

Spend the remainder on the best cheapest player

I think your problem is too many middies

Uto and Sutton in the EMG feels like too much $$$ to not be playing

You could go one to Nikorima and the other to a gun of your choice. A gun HOK and moving Brailey to the bench, or a gun WFB and moving Warbrick to EMG would help you out. Maybe a gun MID with question marks about Hopgood, and Welch would be a trade out by Round 9 (Storm bye)

    Hope that helps

Why do you think Hopgood and Cartys' minutes will change at all?

Greig cant play more than 30 mins, Matto (70) and Hopgood (60) and Carty 80 as normal.

Oh I imagine it will stay pretty similar, just the unknown can throw you a bit.

This week I might just make the one trade which is Sutton down to Niko. Bank a bit of cash away and hope Niko makes some money over the next month

Cheers for the comments guys. If Teddy was available this week I was going to grab him but now that option is gone so will delay it for a week.

Like I said trade this week might be Sutton to Niko

Round 7 - Trades and team update

First 3 trade week of the year and yep I used them all.

    Brailey > JMK
    Hopgood > Teddy
    Trindall > Sele

    JMK
    Carrigan, Tino, Welch
    Katoa, Preston
    Cleary, SJ
    Lemmy, Alamoti
    Teddy, Miller, Perham

    Carty, Loiero, Boyd, Ford
    Uto, Warbrick, Sele, KNik

First trade worked out well enough, score saved a bit by the try but good to have a decent return on the board. Second trade turned into a bit of a dud with Teddy going low and Hopgood getting moved to the starting side and going pretty well (could have held off that trade and just played Warbrick).
The lack of a standout cow meant I went for Sele and that has been a slow start.

This week I have a lot of money in the bank (434k) and with yet again no stand out cows it might be best to try and get 3 guns in if possible.

This feels like a great week to have a bank and not need to buy any of the seemingly dud cows on offer. Who are you looking at bringing in?

I'd probably look at something like Carty & Uto to Manu & DiFi with all that bank. Haven't done the calculations but that should probably work right? I'd also be tempted to just say bugger it and do Carty to Hynes if that works out.

Do you have access to my brain? Those were the exact two trades I had pencilled in. I’m short a gun EDG and a gun CTR so those two fix those problems. Leaves me like 130k in the bank to grab a Raider next week (Tapine/Horse).

Getting fairly mixed messages about the Manu trade from what’s being discussed in the main thread but I feel like it helps out my team without pulling it to shreds.
