Lol, no-one was saying this was the best Broncos pack ever (though some where saying things like "best young pack in the league", or "potential to be their best pack ever").

Don't worry about 1998, in 2006 GF we had:
    8. Shane Webke
    9. Shaun Berrigan
    10. Petro Civoneciva
    11. Sam Thaiday
    12. Brad Thorn
    13. Tonie Carroll
    14. Corey Parker
    15. Dane Carlaw
    16. Ben Hannant

And pretty much all of them close to their peak. Put them up against this year's pack in the pre-season and you'd be saying Gillett should get his spot back after a serious neck injury (ahead of Carlaw), and that's it. By the end of the season you'd have Haas ahead of Hannant, wouldn't pick Gillett, but would have Fafita ahead of Carlaw, but neither Haas or Fafita would have been put ahead of those 9 players from 2006.

https://www.triplem.com.au/story/listen-let-s-cool-the-talk-on-best-broncos-forward-pack-ever-132501 I cant find the direct article but this one from triple M references the talk

I totally agree though, how anyone could ever say that a broncos pack forward pack is better than that 1998 or 06 is beyond me

The 5th most capped Bronco of all time has been offered a contract $300K less than his previous deal with the Red Hill based club.
As a result, he is exploring his options elsewhere and the cashed up Panthers are very interested in securing his services.

The only news here is the Panthers part, although I've seen that around a bit. Its been pretty well publicised that Glenn was offered a smaller contract to re-sign, and they won't stand in his way (not that they could, but i mean, they won't be budging on their offer) if he wants to go elsewhere.

I hope they keep him. With the way things are playing out, they may bump up his offer slightly just to get it across the line. He doesn't want to uproot his family.

So talks with Croft.... is he the answer? Its a fairly significant risk for both sides. He's is still unproven and the pressure on him would be immense. There clearly isnt room for him at the storm but surely someone a bit more well established is the answer?

    Lewis
    Miles
    Langer
    Walters
    Tallis
    Lockyer
    Thaiday
    Hodges
    Parker
    Boyd
    Matt Lodge

If that happens...Wow, just fucking wow. If I'm one of the first 6 on that list, I am absolutely outraged and ceasing all involvement with the Club, if I'm one of the next 4, i'd be a little embarrassed about how quickly it's declined from an all time great like Lockyer, through me and the others to potentially the guy at the bottom and am wondering how much I'm responsible for that cultural change.

I like Lodge as captain and I don't think there is anyone else better to take over the captaincy. Who is a better candidate?

Not that I think any/all of these guys are a better player then Lodge, but are certainly better leaders.

    Alex Glenn.
    Matt Gillett.
    Corey Oates.
    Andrew McCullough.
    Anthony Milford.

Alternatively, any of these blokes, really.

Sad fact is, Gillet is just about done. He would be the clear cut out and out best option but they ovb have doubts about how much longer he will play. Maybe he doesnt want to be captain?
Glenn is prob gone from the club and honestly, would he even make the starting team next season?
Oates is a winger and potentially gone too.
McCullogh is on the way out.
    Milf is not captain material.

Honestly Boyd is still the best option.

Now take all those who showed poor leadership as part of "Queen of the Nile" , then remove those who will be playing elsewhere next year. Other than pay check Boyd he's last man standing. That's the sad truth.

You cant make a winger captain.
Milf is not a leader at this point in his career.
FAC - may not even start at hooker next year with Turpin there.

What about Joe O? He is a starting front rower and origin player isnt he

Why exactly can't you make a winger captain?
All this captaincy talk has reminded me of why FAC is called FAC Laugh 3

    Glenn - too old
    Gillett - too old
Oates - If he can catch 5 bombs in a row at training give him the captaincy (no chance)
McCullough - Bloke might not even be at the club next year
Milford - Hasn't done enough to prove he's a good leader IMO

People are just saying Lodge isn't a good captain because of his past. Guess what, no one is perfect and he (along with everyone else at the club) has moven on and Lodge hasn't put a foot wrong in 2 years.

The players want him as the next captain and I hope it happens.
