Fair enough. How's you're guns and cows thing going this year?

    Doesn’t really work mate!

Completely changing my game for hopefully better not worse Smile

Currently have Cam Smith, Tapau, McGuire, NBrown, Teddy. Basing around that

Agree with this quote. Seeing lots of references to “trap”. Someone like Peta Hiku simply can’t be called a trap. He is sub 300k when there is absolute dross at the price bracket and he has some history of posting ok scores. He’s just cheap and hopefully is what it says on the tin.

It’s all about expectations... Traps should probably be a term limited to tempting mid-rangers who are priced nicely but actually have no real high scoring history or former guns who are just not guns anymore, irrespective of price (Hayne?)

Yes Hayne could be a trap
I think Evans is a trap
I don't think Hiku is a trap, or J Croker for that matter... I don't have high expectations of these players but think they'll make some coin

I've got all 4, but I think Murray and GI would have slightly more potential

Doing some non-scientific value hunting, just seeking out potential upside.
Slade Griffin caught my eye. Any knights around to suggest he might get an extended run with no backup hooker?

My thinking was that he’s the better player of him and Levi and he might make the role his own with Knights having unprecedented (for them) bench options in he forwards

Yeah Evans starts the price bracket for mid ranger trapping I’d say over 320k

Could be OK, but I get the impression the Cleeland is not going to start the season; and that Hiku could be a waste of cash; and Croker the next Elgey. The other three are in my side. Others I am considering are Leilua and S. Katoa (if he is ever named on fantasy). I don't really know much about about the Broncos, but from the write-ups over the past few days it seems like Payne Haas could be an interesting proposition. Does anyone actually think we will play Round 1?

Slade Griffin is in my team if he starts.

Even if he plays only 40 to 50 minutes as starting hooker he wills score well enough for a decent price rise and DPP. What is not too like. Look at last years stats!

The journos just love to circle jerk over guys like him and he was impressive from what I saw (against the Capras) but he's an 18 year old prop. No chance I'd say.

Agree I like him and he’s never had an extended run to rack up big minutes and scores but think he might have it in him. Good decision going to that new franchise club for sure.

Next to no chance he plays 80. Buhrer or Levi will get a run.

I think there is some value there, but Lichaa and Cook look better value for mine

    And yes the DPP
I’m focusing my 14-17 on DPP.

Currently; Cartwright, McGuire, Griffin +1 is my template

Gives me 3 backup backrowers and for free HLF/FRF/HOK

Definitely prefer them both but I don’t have a lot of downgrade potential in my squad unless I sacrifice a first-13 guy I want

Good chance the +1 will be Watson. HOK/HLF is tasty even though I don’t love him

My gut feel is that Slade Griffin will start with Levi on the bench. Slade Griffin finally graduating to master having served under Master Smith for so long. Taking on Levi as his Padawan. Even so I know a few Knights supporters who would say otherwise.
If he gets the starting role there's a big chance that he'll be in my team

Slade Griffin three ACL's also. Poor bastard. Even if he starts, there is no guarantee he doesn't just play 20 minutes to take the sting out of the start before Levi plays 60 minutes.

Just put together a side that still has a lot of the popular 228k "traps", but only as the 18-21

    Cook
    Fifita, Liu
    Murray, Arrow, McQueen
    Croft, Watson
    Mitchell, Aitken
    Ponga, Mbye, Dufty

    Lichaa, RFM, Lodge, Cartwright

    Havili, Milne, Croker, Fonua/Kennar

Will Josh McGuire be a little too mid range? (not making money and not busting out 50+ scores consistently)

Also on Griffin I remember the last couple of games he played for the Storm he got little niggling injuries that forced him from the field.

Definitely the right place for those players 18-21 although I think a lot of the cam smith teams (self included) will need to give Milne a starting jersey
