At least Braith is being honest that they cheated the cap, we aren’t stupid. I’m glad Braith had the gumption to say it.
I’ve always respected Braith he just went up higher in my book.
The only thing Braith is being honest about is his own opinion.
Given that he was a Bulldogs player back then, he would have no knowledge whatsoever about the Roosters club finances other than innuendo and theories.
It might be different if he talked about receiving under-the-table payments outside of his contract while at the Roosters, but he hasn't said that, nor has anyone else.
Players look to push rules as far as they can on the field without getting penalised, clubs likely do the same off the field (including yours...).
If it's a massive exploitation (second set of books etc) then they will (probably) get caught... eventually...
Is it fair that some clubs can afford much better rosters than other clubs under the same cap?
No - but some clubs are better at managing their shit than others.
For instance, is it the Roosters or the Storm, Broncos, Panthers or Rabbitohs fault that the Tigers are largely a poorly managed and ineffective club?
Should this be addressed by penalising well-managed clubs to help benefit the clubs that are not well-managed? or would that just reward incompetency
In the end, a bit of this is just sport and it's just life - there's little point in wasting anger on something that you (or any of us) have no ability to change (and we don't even have proof that it's real).
I mean, you can enjoy the story I guess, but I hope you don't let it weigh you down
