“I met Des in Darling Harbour (in Sydney) and we had a coffee and started talking about football and life in general. Then he just, bang, put out this big book with stats on everything. On everything. From f***ing day dot,” Mason said on his Skipi TV show Unfiltered.

“In his eyes, I don’t know if they are twisted or football has just got to him but Aiden Tolman was the best prop in the game. But to me, no disrespect to Aiden, (but) I was 35 and I’d still dust him up.

“In my eyes I’m like, ‘No, Sam Burgess (was the best), or George Burgess at that time’ — they were killing it. I said, ‘Do you ever go by the eye test Des and look at what he brings and what sort of emotion and physical presence, and how much drive he has on the field and how much he can get people going with him, and the leadership skills, instead of finding your front on the play the ball, tackling 45 times?’

“There’s a reason why you tackle 45 times if you’re a front-rower — because you’re a spot player. I don’t get run at 50 times a game because I’d hope to think that I can actually tackle all right.”
just shows he’s an idiot. If you can find a prop who’ll find his front 45 times a game any coach in the comp would want him

He will be up against none other than Talakai. And yes, he's a woeful defender in Q Cup. That's why I cannot see him playing 80 this week. He didn't force himself into the side, he's literally the last option.

Oh yeah, totally. I'm not bringing him in (this week anyway, if he looks okay and holds his spot in two weeks then maybe). My concern was more with it affecting Null with some sort or McGregor style switcheroo screwing Null, which seems overblown. Null will likely play edge all game baring injury, unless he needs to spend a bit of time of centre at the end. Unless Te Whare really sucks. I suppose it's possible against the "slingshot" as Gus calls it.

So you're saying trade in Talakai instead?

Holzman wrote:sounds crazy but is there merit in starting Tommy T?

As it stands im playing Alamoti and one of Kodi/Granville/Oloapu

If I moved Alamoti to Luki then im forced to play Tommy T

but then it Tommy T + Luki instead of Alamoti + Kodi.

The other move is just trade Miller to Drinky and then its Drinky + Alamoti

On first glance, all three options seem rather sideways. I think if that's the best you can do, probably holding has merit.

Won't he be out on the wing with Tesi at centre?

If anyone gets bored or struggling with making decisions I wrote almost a doctorate sized post on 'Trading outside the box' while drinking this proper strong yorkshire tea

Just wrote thoughts as they came to mind after observing others over the past month or 2 sitting on the fence. Won't try an expand or build on this as I don't want my season to become a job but seemed a waste not to share it for some of the newer people

Anyways will go back to kfc and memes after this, so take this as my one and only fantasy dump in the old style of trials and tribulations haha

Maybe rotate in attack and D. Tesi maybe defending at centre but dropping back to catch.

    These are all good points.

    This one in particular.

This one less so, I do think he's less likely to be racking up assists, that's Ponga's job, but true, it's a small sample and should balance somewhat.

As I say, I'm mostly holding because I need to, but yeah lean towards hold in any case.

Sorry, the point I was trying to make with the blue comment, is that currently he has zero tries or TA's when playing with Ponga.
I wouldn't expect that to stay at zero (i.e. at some point he has some try involvement, surely!?)

Yeah mate agreed. As I said it's a small sample and he should get some eventually, but I would count on it being generally less with Ponga in the team. Currently zero, and should increase from zero, but he'll probably still score lower with Ponga in the team as a rule I think. Still likely to hold. As you say, GK adds a few points if he keeps it.

Starting lock, in a team of depleted forwards, BE 20, price 417k, and recency bias means he scores 59 every week now. If he was playing rd13 would people be all over it?

Both Sutton and King didn't play last week, was TPJ, RFM and no name newbies in the MIDs.
