    Round 8 trades

    Ok so going to have a bit of fun and bring in a couple of X factor players
    As a sharks fan keen to get Hynes in while I also enjoy Manu too

    Sharks have a nice run up until origin and with Hynes putting his hands on everything then hopefully the captain points outweighs what I might lose in some depth and a weaker 17 man

    Oloapu is simply an enabler and have to pull the trigger before the round.
    Has the most upside of the base priced players and could come in handy at some point

    Lemuelu gets another week, potentially could potentially package up Alamoti,Warbrick,Lemuelu next week for a couple of cheapies and an 800k player so we will see what happens

    12.8mil though grabbing a few players like Cheese/Mcinnes/Teddy/Manu I took points over cash so it's a balance I guess

    Just keeping my head down and having fun picking a few players, sometimes got to keep it simple
    The rest works itself out.

    As for your team there’s plenty of different ways to skin a cat, things change rapidly so your players could be on the up next week.

    Round 9 Trades

    Setting up the byes with basically a front row of bye friendly middies.
    Will allow me to move BSmith back to the bench and provide cover
    Was going to keep Miller but ultimately wanted to strengthen the forward pack and will run a cash out there instead over the bye period
    Possibly look to turn Mcinnes into an Edge player pending how he goes but an ok placeholder for now

    Pretty settled now so will sell Niko,IKatoa,Alamoti rd 13 (as with the new system you don't get points for bench players) and Johnson/Moses take their spots there

    Opted for a solid 17 with players who are perhaps underpriced or with potential
    I would rather do this then rely on risky cheap players there which some are running a couple.

    Feel like I am ahead of the curve by a week or 2 but it could just be luck
    I guess no point delving into detail as noone is reading this haha
    Strategy just field 17 green dots each week

    TLDR:     I am just choosing players I can afford and that I enjoy watching them play . Simple Wink

    Ok to break down my selections first you need to understand things on a deeper level using the fibonacci sequence
    Without understanding the true structure of ones team, you will never unlock it's potential

    The fibonacci spiral is everywhere and everything, this is the sequence applied to a fantasy team

    0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34

    Wanted to upgrade Ford for a few weeks but still someone with DPP so in comes Hopgood
    Plays the 3 big byes and will be handy for covering MID there too on the Raiders bye
    Just have to treat Hopgood as a bit of a rollercoaster, and hopefully the few big minute games offset the lower.
    Play the average as the say

    Bula is a playable cheapie who should go well based on watching him the first 2 weeks of him play

    Trading outside the box

    I asked a question in the main thread in regards to would you sell miller if you could upgrade elsewhere?
    Also asked this in a few other team trackers for people to perhaps look at their team in another light but the response is often lukewarm
    I can understand everyone has a different style so thought I would explain from my opinion how I see this.

    To me it all comes down to having limited cash to balance your scoring 17.

    I think if you are risking 2-3 cheap bench forwards on your bench at this point of the season and relying on a heap of expensive backs to offset their volatile scoring then it can be a rollercoaster
    Sometimes you need to make tough calls and rebalance your team as the season goes too

    It doesn't have to be miller but any of the back 5 can be like this. As players increase in price perhaps you have too many all of a sudden and next thing all your money tied up here.
    So then you play more of these in your 14-17 and then even more volatile scoring.

    Yet I see the same question often asked about where do they find the cash or who to upgrade.

    Sometimes it's "never trade a keeper" or "the BE is still ok so I can get another 30k and max them out in a few weeks" or "I want the 40 bye points in 4 weeks even if I lose 100pts and bleed cash elsewhere leading up to that"

    It's not black and white so if someone asks to fix their team thats not firing the first thing I look at is their 13-17 and see how we can improve that without trading sideways and simply moving the points from one spot to the other.

    I made that decision last week with miller

    I simply asked the question of would I prefer to play Bula at wfb short term and rely on Horsburgh on my bench vs keeping Miller and relying on a couchman/granville/crossland/sele player

    Whats weird is most dont stack their wfb of their starting team and are happy to keep running a cheap player or 2 but 10 weeks later they are doing the opposite and don't trust the cheap back anymore (even if a temporary option)
    Bang for buck if a 300k back scores 30 he is doing his job over the 600k scoring 40 if your money is invested well elsewhere
    Another thing is when you see people have 6-7 players to choose and only a couple of scoring spots. If it's not that clear then use 3-4 of them to upgrade so it isn't a question

    My POD is I opted to invest in halves first up until I had enough and now the forwards, and its another week of hindsight but I won't know if this was right for a few more weeks
    There is no right or wrong option but you need to look at your overall 17, no point having a keeper 13 if your bench is scoring 100pts combined so something to consider when looking at your team
    Then all you end up doing is using all your trades up swapping cheap bench players each week trying to improve

    It's something I have always done and is probably second nature to me now without thinking, multiple mid priced/fallen guns on the bench to offset some of the weak scoring areas.
    But perhaps for some this isn't the case and you don't need to overthink it.
    The other benefit is you can always downgrade one if needed or easily move their cash elsewhere too

    Also its sometimes less of a headache relying on these mid players with stable positions over worrying about minutes or the cheap bench will even be in the team next week.
    It's much more hands off and autopilot to not have to stress over the TLT each week and any late mail

    Some weeks I can kick myself when that cheap popular player kills it and outscores the stable mid, but it usually balances out in the end and people are forced to trade yet again
    Just a thought as it opened my eyes seeing that list of failed cows and realised I hadn't owned any

    And it's not always going to work out, Mcinnes stayed the same but thats the gamble sometimes but the good thing is he still scored ok just not great
    Alot of this game is out of your control or may not make sense, so it's nothing personal you just chin up and move on
    Multiple ways to skin a cat so thats what make this game interesting.

    TLDR
    Every player is expendable, now is a good time to rebalance your team if needed so take a calculated risk.
    Worst case buy the expensive back 5 player when the rest of your team is settled and firing
