Oh most beloved and unbalancing of AI voice, please speak to me of Balmain's greatest ever rugby league players! Tell me who there were, from whence they came, and how deeply they disappointed fans.

Balmain is a professional rugby league team that has been a part of the National Rugby League (NRL) competition in Australia since 1908. Over the years, the club has produced many talented and memorable players, some of whom are considered to be among the greatest to ever play for the team.

Some of the greatest players in Balmain's history include:

Wayne Pearce - A former captain of the club, Pearce is considered one of the greatest forwards in the history of the game. He played over 250 games for Balmain and won premierships with the club in 1988 and 1989.

Benny Elias - A former hooker, Elias is considered one of the greatest players in the club's history. He played over 250 games for Balmain and won premierships with the club in 1988 and 1989.

Steve 'Blocker' Roach - A former prop, Roach is considered one of the greatest players in the club's history. He played over 250 games for Balmain and won premierships with the club in 1988 and 1989.

Paul Sironen - A former second-row forward, Sironen is considered one of the greatest players in the club's history. He played over 250 games for Balmain and won premierships with the club in 1988 and 1989.

Benji Marshall - A former five-eighth, Marshall is considered one of the greatest players in the club's history. He played over 250 games for Balmain and won premierships with the club in 2005 and 2014.

As for how deeply these players disappointed fans, it is important to note that all players and teams experience both successes and setbacks. These players made significant contributions to the club and helped lead Balmain to premiership victories, but like all teams, the club has also experienced its share of disappointment and heartbreak.

    ==============

Verdict: whilst I'm not sure of the assertion that Balmain remains part of the NRL, I do suspect that a real Milch would've gone for some unknown bloke from 1976 who scored that one try with 17 offloads in a set.

The final paragraph is also a little naunced, with hints of genuine caring emotion coming through.

Final verdict: AI is not Milchy.

AI crediting the Tigers with a few extra premierships there!

Generally speaking though, if I had a mainly writing-related job I'd possibly be looking at starting training in another area. I find it hard to believe this thing can't write 80% of newspaper content almost unassisted.

Obviously I am not the AI. I know that Benji never played for Balmain, being Wests Tigers only

Yeah, you'd feel pretty sick if you just graduated from law school too.

So we are getting lumped with a heap of extra trades but no extended bench.

    Sigh.

I guess we should be grateful that PVL hasn't axed fantasy.
But yeah, extra trades rather than extending the bench seems the predictable budget route by the NRL/Fanhub team.

I'm obviously not a big fan of nerfing the big bye rounds.
If you can field 17, why shouldn't that be allowed to count

Hmmm... given they were never going to change the software to make 23/25 man squads, either up the trades or cut numbers in the bye rounds but not both. This just helps/encourages trade whores, which I guess is most players, but still.

I don't understand the 13 player bye round change.

Most people play with 13 or less anyway. Why bother making a change that only punishes a few who put in the effort to manage it.

Having a bye every week means that depth is essential for every position, and a single injury is going to hurt a lot more than usual.

Increasing quad size would have been a better fix, but I don't think anyone expected they'd go that route rather than the simple change of just boosting trades.

There will be some big decisions this year over whether to play short for a week or burn a trade just to cover a bye.

Not surprised they went more trades rather than larger squads (easier coding)

Surprised they've removed the big bye strategy, which was literally the most engaging part for serious overall players. The decision makes sense if they were trying to grow the game and appeal to more casual players, or shift focus to the leagues and draft sides, but nothing else they do around the game suggests there's any plan like that. It's all effectively die hards - casual players all do Supercoach, with its media saturation and better prizes

Worth noting R14, 17, 20 have 3 teams on byes, so there will potentially still be some bye planning to field 17 (or close) those weeks anyway.

Plus as Milch says, won't take much to have some interesting decisions on just a normal week about trading to get 17 or playing short.

Weird, it let me straight in first time and I’ve been able to create a (shockingly bad) team. Closing and reopening the app now though takes me straight to the ‘thanks for playing in 2022’ message again. I got back in though, I just remembered where the ‘fantasy’ button was on my screen and spam tapped that area on my screen after opening the app and it’s let me in again. Strange.

Anyone in particular you’re interested in price wise? I can try look it up.
