Hermitude - Dark Night, Sweet Light

I have just discovered WhiteChapel. Now I always figured they were some old school hair band as the name reminds me of Cathedral I think.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Deathcore with awesome riffs and some great leads/solo's. Listening to their last 2 albums and they are just technical power from start to finish Very Happy

I gave that a go - just couldnt get into it. It was hard enough as a white kid from middle class australia who gets sick smoking weed to relate to Dr Dre, its much harder to relate now that hes a tech billionaire. But I got NWA for free with it and that is a classic.

Haha. My dad bought me an Oakland Raiders jacket when he went on a trip to the states, for no other reason then they seemed like a popular team, because everyone was wearing their merch. A 7 or 8 year me almost got invested in Oakland because Ice Cube repped them and my dad thought he was a style icon I should emulate.

Really? Its so bland and copy/paste though... Every song sounds like Justin Timberlake doing a Drake impression. I feel like its an album people are loving because they are told how good it is and form an opinion before they listen to it. I dont rate it at all. It keeps coming up in the shuffle of my "recently added" playlist and keeps getting skipped after 15seconds.

I guess im in the "hate" camp. haha.

It's one of those albums I'll throw on when I'm cleaning the house, I won't be listening but it's still on. I was middle class white kid who dyed his hair blonde when Eminem was big. Looking back at the photos now is such an embarrassment. Just shocking decision making.

The 90's/early 00's were not a good time for anybody, fashion wise. Tragic.

Lol  A new LOL emoticon thanks to Random today I would say Very Happy

My 16 year old daughter has got into a heap of 90's bands over the last 6 months.  Thought it was a phase at first but she is still going strong, which makes me proud Very Happy .  As opposed to her older sister who listens to today's chart shit-she has been a disappointment pretty much her whole life that one though...

Anyway, I digress.  We were watching YouTube on the big TV the other day now that I can do that with my new xboxone Very Happy  and I showed her the clip for Even Flow and she was like "what the hell is Eddie Vedder wearing!!!" .  I explained to her that pretty much all of us alternative folk back then wore a flanny, shorts, white socks and basketball shoes in those days.  Double cringe when I told her we wore that 365 days of the year-"but, but, Dad, that's too hot for Summer and not warm enough for winter". Me "I know sweetheart, I know". Embarassed

Wonder if blink182 will translate to future teens aswell as it did when I was a teenager. Something to look forward to, brainwash a bunch of little un's into my 90s/00s/10s music.

My uncle had the same conversation with his 14 year old, who thought he was really cool and edgy before he saw a photo of his dad as a kid wearing converse and ripped jeans. Not so groundbreaking any more.
