My 2 minutes of research suggests Hetherington and TPJ may be the edge players

So I guess RFM comes in round 2 after Hetherington gets suspended

I'd be surprised to see a fully fit RFM behind Hetho in the pecking order long term

Kurt Mann will play lock and Adam Clune will win the race to partner Jake Clifford in the halves. The Knights still want Luke Brooks but the Tigers refuse to release him under any circumstance.”

Barry Toohey retired at the wrong time.

This seems like the perfect outcome for Fantasy coaches, so its making me sceptical

Full credit to the Milchcow. There is some noise that Hodgson may play for the Knights for a year before heading to the Eels https://www.seriousaboutrl.com/josh-hodgson-linked-with-stunning-one-year-deal-47790/

Wouldn't call it noise when its just based off that fox article which listed every hooker with a contract ending in 2023 and linked them to the Knights lol. They included Verrills and Brandon Smith in that article too

Jackson Topine has been overpriced by  almost 14 points based on 2021 scoring
He is not a big offloader, tackle breaker or kicker, so unless he escapes from the in goal a lot, I have no idea how they came up with his price this year

Annoyingly, there are many players massively overpriced in scoring, but hardly any underpriced.
    Some weird ones for sure.
I assume magic number will adjust such that, all else being equal, the average of under & over priced players will be the same?

One player who looks like he could be a little undervalued is Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow https://www.nrl.com/news/2022/01/14/centre-of-attention-holmes-eying-positional-switch/

He looks to have secured an ongoing role at Fullback this year and has DPP status. CTR will not be a problem this year. I reckon with all the DPP players I will pick, I could have up to 6 or 7 of them. Any thoughts on the Hammer. I think he is in for a breakout year

Milchcow wrote:Got some analysis done around the new scoring system

For the stats I am about to post here is how I generated them.

Reducing TBs and Kick Meters is straight forward from last years stats

Have added in ruck infringements and inside 10 based on last years stats. With the rule change that these will now be penalties 40m from the line, more of these may be penalties (or not given at all, depending on how much Phil Gould whinges in public about the amount of penalties being blown)

I have awarded 3.5 points per offload. Based on Supercoach stats, about 82% of offloads are effective, with the rest ineffective. If Fantasy scores similarly then 3.5 points slightly underscores offloading.
I have applied 3.5 across the board though - there is no attempt to distinguish which players are better offloaders than others

I have made no attempt to cater for escape from in goal points.

I started looking at this today would you believe. I knew I should have saved myself the trouble. As you say TBs and KMs are easy. I guessed 80% of OFs are effective (not far off) and like you ignored the ingoal escape thing, but also ignored the ruck infringements because = lazy and figured it affects everyone anyway. Main difference is I was working through players individually with my abacus and slide rule. Your method is better... Cheers

The worst thing about collecting the ruck infringements was slight name differences between my normal fantasy stats and from nrl.com

Spent ages converting Talatau Amone to Junior Amone, Ben Marschke to Benjamin Marschke etc took ages

    Random stat

is Moala Graham-Taufa the only player who has a career fantasy average less than 0?

1 game for -1 point. Lets hope he can improve on that this year

Player prices won't change between now and kick off.

Over the course of the season, players prices will eventually rise/fall to meet their average, with peaks and troughs depending on if players just have a monster/crap score

I know that Mann had been training at lock, but I expected Barnett to start there, with Brodie and the Friz on the edges.
I expected Mann to have a similar role to Watson.

I haven't gone past hooker yet. Seems to me, you either take a punt on Grant (red dot loop for one week) or the safety of Cook, or hope for a cheapie, or combo.

Grant's suspension should gain him a certain level of PODishness. Tricky with BS9/13 also suspended, team lists mightn't help. Will play origin but was hampered with injury last year and has a career avg of 61.9 starting hooker whilst priced at 56.

Cook is priced at 61.6 and has last three years avg's of 59.4, 63.9 and 62.7 and plays 80 nearly all the time. Nerf's don't appear to have affected him too much. Priced appropriately and will play origin, but you could do worse to start with him as set and forget. New coach; plays him similarly? more running and kicking? or heaven forbid, bench hooker?
