Great advice ET. Care to have a look at my lot?

Have locked in Peachey to Fifita which leaves me with 8 trades and 624k

    Brailey
    Haas, Lodge, Radley
    Fifita, Wilton
    SJ, ARey
    Burton, Olam
    Hynes, Teddy, Mitchell

    Fog, Moses, Tupouniua, Watson
    Schuster, Walsh, Verrills, Pappy

Not sure I have the setup right, happy to make another trade if you can find one.

    Cheers pal

Your team looks pretty close to a great final 17, but IMO there's no point holding back trades when you have plenty and you can improve your team now.
e.g. a 20 point improvement now is worth 160 points across 8 weeks (or equivalent to a 50 point improvement for Round 23-25)

With 10 trades you have enough to trade Cleary AND get him back.
I'd suggest Cleary -> DCE (assuming he suits up this week - you will know before the Panthers game)
AND Walker -> Cook/Mahoney/Frizzell/Hughes (basically a keeper of your choice)

You essentially get a 25 point improvement in average by running DCE instead of Walker.
And assuming Tohu doesn't make the cut and one of Turbo/Teddy is out (which seems fairly likely), you get your gun trade-in instead of Roberts/Verrills - probably another 20/30 point improvement.

It means your team is immediately better, 50+ points each week can make a fair shift in ranking, and you can always trade Cleary back in later (for a flagging gun etc)

Appreciate this, thank you. I was determined to keep Cleary because of the headache of trying to get him back in, but you make some compelling points.

Would love a bit of advice as well. Every trade is key now. This week I’m short a mid if Harris doesn’t play. Can’t wait til Sunday to find out

Thinking Turpin and schuster (when he’s finally back lol) to Murray and someone below 550 to be 18th man (latrell?). Could do haas and rapana instead for better centre cover and haas probably out scores Murray

    Team is
    Brailey
    Angus Papalii Harris
    Cleary Johnson
    Bird Ramien
    Walsh turbo teddy

    McCullough Moses fog Turpin

    Schuster Verrills Hetherington Roberts

7 trades. 3k in the bank

    Thanks legends

Its too hard to work out now because we don't know who will/won't be in the final 17

I'd probably just set it up to get the best scorers, assuming everyone plays, and then worry about adjusting it if we get more concrete info by Friday afternoon

    a) Brailey + Watson > Haas  + Fifita + 642K

    OR

    b) Brailey + Watson > Haas + Hunt + 737K

    Next week will be:

    Fogarty + Hynes > Pappy/Ponga + Fifita/Hunt

    Week after will be:

    Schuster/CHN/Burton + Savage > Red Dot/Cheapie + Cleary

I think in relation to the Matto vs CHN debate, ownership is something to think about.

Matto 31% owned in the top 5000
CHN 82% owned in the top 5000

Trading Matto is the safer play.  Argument for a POD play but I'm not sure how many points Matto could outscore CHN by, if any.

I know you shouldn't be basing off opponents either but

    Matterson's next 5 is

    Titans, Raiders, Roosters, Rabbits, Manly

    and CHN's next 5 are

    Sharks, Parra, Knights, Dragons, Storm

CHN's draw probably has him just above Matto in that factor

    No worries at all.
Yeah, the clincher for me with Cleary - is that the recovery time is not to recover from the injury, it is to get him back to a state of trying to manage it through to the end of season for when he will have surgery.

SMH wrote:The Panthers are hopeful they will be able to nurse him through the remainder of the season, but there will be indicators along the way that will provide a glimpse into how effective Cleary will be if he returns for the run home into the finals.

Other players have suffered similar injuries in the past, and those who have chosen to rehab and return have often struggled to avoid further subluxation or dislocation given the tear to the labrum creates the instability in the socket.

Former St George Illawarra captain Gareth Widdop aggravated the injury three times in five games over two seasons.

You're in a great position to trade him back IF he returns and looks the goods - but it sounds like there's no guarantee, so may as well use your advantage to boost your scoring now

    Sure thing,
It's the point of the season where I think you want to look at the areas where you can maximise improvement i.e. who in your 17 is most holding back your overall scoring.
You are solid through to 19 - which is good for injuries, but I'd probably be looking for areas to boost.

I think Tupouniua and Schuster both fill a similar role for you - Edge backup, but maybe a little short of being keepers - I'd keep one, flick the other.
Probably Tupouniua -> iPap - you can play iPap on the bench for now and gives you a bit of extra MID cover as well.

I don't think you want to trade out Olam at his price, but it would be great to shift him into the 18-21.
I'd be a little tempted by Campbell Graham - he can go big and the Rabbitohs have 5 or 6 games they should win well on the run home - it'd probably be for one of the WFB's but you may need one for Teddy this week, and I'd hate to suggest you trade Pappy only for him to play next week.

    Hope that helps

I agree with our fellow Fantasy brains-trust wisdom; you are woefully short of Middle / Edge cover.
You are running with 6 halves, I'd shift Hynes (once Pappy is back) or Fog to pick up a DPP Mid/Edge forward; IPap is the obvious candidate for mine.
