Definitely the least helpful numbered fantasy team named. Way more missing players than the other sides.

Really think the Sea Eagles are wooden spoon smokies though. DCE gets injured it's hard to see them winning a game.

With this pack, do we think Dessie will finally give Marty Taupau some decent minutes. With A.Fonua-Blake gone to the Warriors and each of Paseka/Keppie/Sipley/Boyle aren't really big minute players, maybe Dessie will give both Taupau and Aloiai around 55-60 minutes which would certainly boost Taupau's scores.

    Anyone keen on Ofa?

I'm not sure, can't work thought it yet as still a little bit in disbelief that an established first grader like Gosiewski would get the start over a 29yo journeyman like Davey.

Yeah look I don’t take much from the trial lists/teams. I see it as more of a way to see who is in and around the top 21 players and who might be a surprise in games, but other than that I don’t really take any notice of where anyone is named, etc. as this may have no bearing on what a coach may actually be planning on doing… Look at Daine Laurie – named at fb in trial squad but for all we know Madge just might want some K’s in his legs in case one of his backs go down? Look at Gosi – Des may be set on Davey being starting second row but wants to give Gosi a chance to show him what he can do for a bench spot. I have made 2 teams since Fantasy opened and won’t be touching them until TLT rolls around (when I’ll probably make another 68 teams).

Not sure if posted but Eels named basically full strength team for trial

    1. Clint Gutherson

    4. Waqa Blake
    5. Blake Ferguson
    6. Dylan Brown
    7. Mitch Moses
    8. Junior Paulo
    9. Reed Mahoney
    10. Reagan Campbell-Gillard
    11. Shaun Lane
    12. Ryan Matterson

mrbrownstone wrote:Hard to know what to take from those teams. Potentially a couple of cheap wingers.

Would anyone punt on Harper at fullback? Bit of an awkward price unfortunately.

Gosiewski over Davey isn't ideal, but he's still priced at 21 and averages 34.8 starting second row over 40 mins. Just probably can't play him in your 17 with a 10 in 69 minutes and a few other sub-30 scores in there.

Paseka named to start is interesting actually. Priced at 36 he averages 48 in 40+ minute stints (2 tries in there) and 44 as starting prop over 30 minutes.

I am much more likely to punt on Harper than Hoy. Harper if fullback round 1 would get DPP as well.

Tommy T could be likely he’s not back til round 5 or 6 or so and when he’s back he could break down again quickly.

Suli has had the lefranc injury or whatever it’s called to his foot the one Horse and Brimson had. Apparently Suli is still a few weeks away.

At full strength obviously Tommy T, D. Walker and Suli make the Manly team, but the probability of one of them being/getting injured is high which means Harper would keep his spot.

I don’t see Brad Parker is a threat to Harper, I don’t rate Parker and Manly got Harper transferred from the Dogs last year to play more first grade rather than just be playing in reserve grade.

So yeah there is some risk there but I’m keen.

Had an avg of 42.8 at centre from 4 games for Manly last year, yes that was with 3 tries but there is still upside!

Jurbo 80 minutes, Aloiai getting last years 49 minutes and Taupau 45 minutes, there are only 66 minutes left for 2 or 3 bench MIDs. Nothing to see here.

If Davey can't make a 2nd string team doesn't bode well for round 1. Its not like Gosiewski starting instead is a massive curveball. Its just what many expected

Well Nathan Brown won't be in my team with a 4 forward bench and 2 big minute props.

Will be really surprised if Aloiai isnt starting prop round 1, also named on the bench. Gos and Davey probably get 40 minutes each, winner takes all and we know how that will go. Davey is a stud, Gos is a dud.

Re Harper I was reading on the Manly forum that he was actually going to be 1 of the starting ctr's round 1 so when Turbo returns he will just go to starting ctr.

His top players have been rested but i wouldnt say there is silly buggers about anyyhing else there except for the fact it doesnt suit peoples fantasy aspirations

I mean its as meaningful/meaningless as every other trial team named.
