More or less treaded water this week, 970 for the round with an overall rank of 3,399. Three trades left, $127k in the bank. With Haas, MoFo and Fuimaono suspended (back next week) and Taumalolo out for approx four weeks, we've got the bare minimum 17 on the field, but I'd say Lolo's cash is too much to sit on the sidelines...

Probably need Lolo to FRF or 2RF or HOK (to move McInnes to 2RF) for best coverage (2RF or HOK probably best)

I'd then be tempted to move Niu on as well just for better depth for someone around 350-400k mark depending on Lolo trade - maybe someone like T Eisenhuth who could start with B Smith/Finucane injured

Agree on Taumalolo having to be a trade out and also hopefully grabbing some depth

I like the idea of Taumalolo to one of the value options; AFB 647k, Paulo 626k, JFH 616k

My preferred option is AFB as I think he is less likely to be rested but see the appeal in the other 2

This then leaves us choosing between 577k(AFB) and 606k (JFH) options to upgrade Niu.

George Williams 604k, Lawrie 578k, Brimson 545k, Graham 535k, Thompson 530k, Fitzgibbon 529k my favourite options in this range but some value guys a bit lower

Can I throw McGuire in the mix as an option? DPP and should score a little better than his current 55 average with Taumalolo out.

Dearden would have been great 2 weeks ago but at $505k he might still be OK

Allows $719k as 2nd upgrade (assuming Lolo and Niu out)

- two trades of long-term red dots (Lolo and Niu) to a gun and a cheapie. one trade left.
- two trades of long-term red dots (Lolo and Niu) to two value picks. one trade left.

Might be worth running a poll first to see which of these options we like first, then a second poll with trade in options once we have decided which way to go

edit: actually with HTF out too its a bit of a moot point, as we'd need two trades to get 17 on the paddock. Does HTF become a trade-out option now too?

So the question is what combo of trade-ins.

By my maths, with $127k in the bank, Lolo ($810k) + HTF ($325k) gives us a total of $1,262k to play with.

Or if we think HTF might come back, Lolo ($810k) + Niu ($287k) gives us a total of $1,224k.

If people want to throw up a few combos, I can set up a poll first thing tomorrow morning...

I don't think HTF is going to displace Holmes or Feldt any time soon, so he'll probably only play again if there is injury

True. Drinkwater was truly awful on the weekend though...

Lolo + HTF to Matto + Dearden (2k left)
Lolo + HTF/Niu to Ofa/Wallace + CS9

Not a massive fan of the cheaper keepers (around 650k) in this scenario as they still don't really free up another good 2nd underpriced gun to compensate cheaper players in other scenarios

sounds like HTF is a chance of coming back in a week or two as he has a slight hamstring strain according to Hannay (Drinky - 5/8th, Holmes - FB, HTF - wing), so working off using Lolo + Niu.

Not really sure how to approach this week's polls. I can use the suggestions above to put a few different combos and see what people think eg

CS9 + Ofa
DCE + T.Eisenhuth
Harris + Wallace
Twal + Latrell (for better WFB/CTR coverage)
McGuire + Welch
AFB + Brimson
Paulo + Lawrie
? < $719k + Dearden

Or list them all and ask people to nominate one from each group that adds up to $1,224 and see what I can make from it?

I think ask people to do one from each group and make sure it’s in budget. Don’t know if those combos cover all the main suspects - probably enough. Maybe need Host as well as Lawrie.
