perhaps but Soliola was a key player for St Helens before he joined Canberra he was well underpriced, hodgson was Hulls superstar and one of the top players in the SL, coming over to Canberra playing hooker with not much competion I think he was priced more accordingly TBH I think they just pick what they want, I am of the thinking that the SL is no where near the NRL so any player coming over should be priced just above rookie pricing
Hodgson was about the 6th best Hooker in SL mate, and for Hull KR one of its worst clubs. I think he's surprised everyone in England how well he's gone in the NRL.
On the more general point it seems hard to predict how they'll price up ESL players but could be a few wild cards in there which stop us accurately pricing our teams before the site's up.

Don't think it matters who he was playing for mate look at Clark, class in an mediocre Cas team now class in a much better Warrington team, personally have always highly rated Hodgson and bigged him up along with Soliola last year
6th best very harsh i think mate only guys i would of put ahead of him would be
Clark
Roby
Mccllorum
would of rated him above Lunt and Aiton........ and scott moore
100% agree, pricing of imports very much up in the air...interested to see how much Taia comes in at

*When he left* he was probably rated below Lunt as well as the three you mention, and on a par with Houghton and Alton. He's gone up in those ratings now though.

I did base my personal rankings on when he left mate,
hooker talent disparity much closer in the SL than Smith then everyone else in the NRL haha nice to have a discussion with someone who watches the SL

Grew up in Leeds, so can't help watching. Especially as we won fuck all for the 15+ years I went to all the games and starting winning everything when I left.

rhinoceroo wrote:The prices renegades have just predicted are considerably higher than the ones on here, even given an increase in cap. Hard to make a good team. Lot of guesswork involved though.
However they give Sam Burgess a 30% discount on 2014 scores, which makes him a lock.
Renegades prices are the prices I have used multiplied by 5% to cater for a presumed 5% increase in cap.
Relative prices to each other are all the same.
Exception being guys who didn't play NRL in 2014, where everyone is just guessing.

They do get a discount.
Do you have 2014 stats handy. Soliola started at $186k and Hodgson at $336k last year if that helps work out what they might be.
I'm expecting Joe Burgess and Elliot Whitehead to be priced too high to worry about though.

Bren wrote:If it is infact harder to make a good team to start then that can only be a good thing in my opinion.
I'm not sure it will be that hard compared to last year.
Last year we had Soliola, Bird, Coote, and Aitken as cheap keepers in the early rounds. Made interesting by the fact that only 1 of them actually started round 1.
Guys like Glenn Stewart and Michael Lichaa were relatively cheap as well allowing people to stack the rest of their squad.
This year it looks like we might have Jackson Hastings, Ashley Taylor, Kirisome Au'vua, Clinton Gutherson around as cut price starters, potentially Russell Packer and Joel Edwards as well. And there hasn't been a single trial played for players to get injured and bring in other cheapies.
Only way to avoid that is if they manually inflate the prices of Hastings, Gutherson etc to some made up price to discourage people from buying them.
If they do that hopefully they'll deflate some of the the overpriced guys like Cook and Hess to compensate.
Its not really in the spirit of their pricing system to do that though which tries to be as objective as posssible in basing prices solely off 2014 performance.

Soliola didn't come over based on SL scoring did he? Would of thought whitehead comes in at around the same price perhaps more towards the $250,000 mark!
Soliola was used off the bench a lot in 2014 (14 of his 30 games according to Rugby League Project which would have resulted in the cheap price (plus there is some sort of discount applied to super league players)
Whitehead started every game he played last year (1 as centre, rest in 2nd row)
Just looking at http://www.superleague.co.uk/stats/player_stats
Whitehead made 937 tackles last year, Soliola made 601 in 2014
Tackle breaks Whitehead 79 Soliola 30
Offloads Whitehead 52 Soliola 21
Linebreaks Whitehad 24, Soliola 12
Metres gained Whitehead 2229 Soliola 2138
Also keep in mind Soliola played 7 extra games to generate these lower stats. Whitehead is going to be much more expensive than Soliola was,

Re: 2016 NRL.com Fantasy pre-thread
Just some more super league stats
Zeb Taia, 18 games, 16 starts in 2nd row, 2 starts at centre
Averaged 136m 22.6 tackles 3.3 missed, 4.3 TBs 3.3 offloads.
No way he is getting those stats for the titans, so likely he'll be massively overpriced

Was just running them through the fantasy scoring based off their superleague stats but couldn't find linebreak assists, kick defusals or try saving tackles. Joe Burgess came in with an average just over 40Random wrote:What program are you running super league prices through and what caused them to base off higher prices.
Oh and how did Joe Burgess rank up on your breakdown?

From memory Soliola played mostly off the bench in super league which made him reasonably cheap

I was just using this link but it does not have line break assists, kick defusals, try saves or games played so required a little bit of juggling

Start the season winning then switch over and upgrade your players to winners before you turn into a bucket of shit. Yep, sounds right to me.Honeysett wrote:
