QLD have just done it better.
Both teams have always done it. The good thing about the new rules is that it should stop it IF they don't start making exemptions.

i like the current rules, yes keary situation is odd but end of the day, his main development stages was when he was in NSW and covered by NSWRL

state of birth probably suits the term state of origin better but it hasn't been that for ages, its QRL V NSWRL, which i'm fine with

if a guy from NZ, FIJI, PNG comes over at a young age and plays junior footy for either then i'm happy for them to play origin but semi didn't and should have no leg to stand on re origin

so after 3 rounds, where are we at ?

    Fullback:

Has to be teddy, had a great year last year and is following it up, adds something to the team

    Wingers:

Dugan should be one, the other i'm not sure. roberts and fergo have been meh, tupou terrible, hoppa has been alright, don't tihnk he is origin standard but the selectors like him but i'd go mansour, i know he has errors in him but he is back healthy again and every teams is struggling to contain him

    centres:

Jmoz and jennings are locked in

    Halves:

    ?

am i wrong in saying chad townsend is the in form nsw halve...dear god

if moylan comes back strong, i would consider a moylan/hodko partnership.

The raiders pair could be the bolters, they looked unreal in RD 1, if they come back strongly, one or both could force their spot

    Props:

Woods, tamou and klemmer are sure things, few other young props playing well RDC, Boyd, vaughn, Jturbo etc but i don't think we'll pick any other props, they'll go both gal and merrin to play both

    Backrowers:

i think bird, hoff, gal and merrin are all odds on to be there, i think gal needs atleast 6 weeks of footy before it but daley will pick him if he hasn't play at all before origin.

Wade Graham has to be there, can't overlook him this year

i'm not as huge a frizzell fan as most but i don't think the other dragon back rower (thompson) would look out of place on the bench, well help cover outside backs too

Not sure how Roberts and Fergo get a tag of "meh" but Jennings is an autopick.

Teddy at the back, Mansour and DigitsJnr stingers
JMoz and Dugan in the centres.
    Maloney and Pearce halves.
    Woods and Tamou prop.
    Peats hooker.
    Bird, Merrin, Fensom back 3.
    Austin impact #14.
    Klemmer hitman #15
    Graham & Vaughn #16 + 17.
    Cartwright #18 to cut oranges.

    Still QLD 3-0.

I thought Daley said he would even pick Farah from reserve grade? He is back this week so you would think after 7 weeks or so of footy under his belt he will be right to go.

Both. Throw the other 15 useless pricks in blue jerseys into that catergory aswell.

    ED: Farah.

Until proven otherwise by a different starting halfback in the NRL, Pearce should walk back into the side. Show somebody some loyalty for a change. He's a good organiser and manager, all he has to do is stay out of the rest of the backlines way.

If they were fully fit NSW should go with Austin and Sezer. But by all means keep selecting Pearce and the rest, just means another series win for the Champions.

Just a bit of a lol to add fuel to the fire regarding selection... QLD are great at picking vaguely eligible players but here's a list to NSW's credit to show it's all been done before.

An entire team of non NSW born players?

    1. Ken Nagas (Bundaberg), 2. James McManus (Scotland), 3. John Hopoate (Tonga), 4. Timana Tahu (Melbourne), 5. Hazem El Masri (Lebanon), 6. Peter Wallace (Melbourne), 7. Peter Sterling (Toowoomba), 8. Dean Pay (Melbourne), 9. Ben Elias (Lebanon), 10. Justin Poore (Bunbury, WA), 11. Ian Roberts (London), 12. Willie Mason (Auckland), 13. Mario Fenech (Malta). Bench: Brad Clyde (Canberra), Joel Monaghan (Canberra), Ryan Hoffman, (Canberra), Craig Polla-Mounter (Ipswich Grammar, via Melbourne)

Of course, not saying that this has anything to do with selection criteria as we know it but it shows that they didn'y have it figured out back in the day either.

Not a bloody bad team that QLD one too! Laughing

Wasn't so much arguing that both sides haven't done it, just that the selction criteria has been a shemozzle since day dot. Think you either make it cut and dry (i.e. what your birth certificate states) or do like Krumpy says and put onus back on the player. If a guy ain't proud to be representing the state (Keary etc) then fuck em. Show some pride in the jumper!

neither jennings or jmoz are completely safe but i think both have done a good enough job in the past to have their jobs unless someone absolutely demands selection over them and that hasn't happened

forgot about hooker, farah still in for mine

hoff is a cert for a starting edge spot, untill he has a down series, its his spot
