The most even comp??? Every year people only talk about 4 teams that can really win it.

The teams that are always there abouts each year are all the ones that seem to endlessly sign players and hardly release anyone, they all have 1 thing in common, big third party sponsors.

Of all the salary caps around the world this is the worst run one because everything is hidden away and then can be circumvented via TPAs as long as the company doesnt sponsor the club already.

I agree that it's poorly run by not being clear. The trouble is Rugby League is such a hostile culture that the game attacks itself at any given opportunity, if you start talking about player salary the vultures like Buzz Rothfield will have a field day.

Of course it is the most evenly run comp.

There's no other comp I'm aware of where the bottom placed teams so regularly can knock off the top placed teams.
That tell's me the poorer teams have the cattle and the ability (which is specifically the purpose of the salary cap), they just lack the consistency.

It's a balancing act because you can't just randomly handicap the teams that are being run well and that are more consistently getting the best out of the players they have through good coaching and a good culture.
The salary cap should merely be spreading the talent as much as possible.....and I think it is.

I don't think it is perfect (and I particularly am not real keen on the TPA's loophole) but it appears to be working and thus only needs minor tweaks here and there.

I'd love to see coaches salaries included in the cap

The 4 or 5 coaches the Tigers still have on the books would push them way over the cap.....

It's only players who aren't there anymore that were paying now. Only got taylor on the books, hopefully we'll have someone else as well soon enough.

I would happily be paying 3 coaches this year if 2 of them were Walters

Knowing the Tigers they'll make a typo on the contract and accidentally hire Steve Walters instead

Reynolds wanting out of souths was a real surprise. To join the Titans of all teams. Apparently doesn't get along with MM

Where there is smoke there is fire as they say. Reynolds would be an awesome signing for any club.

Souths released a statement saying it is a false rumour. Then again they wont release a statement saying they denied Reynolds a release especially considering they resigned him what last year?

Everyone was all smiles and willing to put in when MM's hard arse approach won them a ring. But now they have it and can't go back to back nobody wants to put in and it's MM's fault.
