No, I wouldn't change a thing. Chances are you will get an injury that you will need to trade from anyway or a midranger will flop, or an injury to someone will mean a better cash cow will come around. Don't chase last weeks points yet and undo a pre season of work based on 1 game where the ball was in play practically the whole first half. Bird does have the odd game where he misses multiple tackles and may not get attacking stats. If you move heaven and earth to get him would you be happy with a 25 next week?

You're definitely right on not chasing last weeks points. Now that I think of it, will definitely want Marty in my final team so no point of chopping him now for a couple of weeks price rises from bird if he doesn't fizzle out.

I'm happy with AM9 after last night, he was gassed after a huge defensive workload and still only missed 4 tackles. Heartening to see a few scoots and kicks from dummy half as well.

Bird seems like the buy of week 2 at this point but his price point will make a trade-in a bit of a logistical nightmare. I have $100,000 in the bank but that still might not cut it for a straight swap with a failed cow

I had Edwards most the preseason and the last two days switched to Teddy. i'm now thinking of downgrading Ted back to Edwards to have the cash next week for Bird or the likes.

Not really chasing the points when he is a cow with potential to make $200,000, already set himself up with a few weeks of price rises and showed the potential to revert back to his older fantasy days

Look at Hiku last year, Thompson? You can’t be stubborn sometimes, just suck it up and get him if you want him

Just on Macca, it felt it was only him and Gillett in every tackle so I'm not surprised he got gassed. He won't be playing the Storm every week. In saying that, if he doesn't reach 55 by week 3 I'm moving him on.

Gillett surprised me by staying in the middle longer than I expected racking up the tackles. After that performance I want him but I guarantee there'll be 10 players who turn up over the weekend lol

Croft is interesting. He was in my earlier teams but got cold feet. 45 for a nothing performance is great for a sub 600k player. Happy with my Munster pick though.

I think Staggs and Bird will be good targets.

Brandon Smith killed it with his minutes. He runs hard and low, good leg drive. He'll be a good slow burner. Depending how Garner goes he might be in

He actually surprised me how well he played. He seemed to run harder & hit harder than I thought he could. If he keeps playing like that then imo Stimson might not get back in the starting team when fit.

Hmm, only change I can see that I'd be comfortable with to leave 150k ITB is CNK>Kahu. If the difference there is about 5 points I'd be fine with that, and then can consider 212k WFB to Bird next week. One of them would need to fail though, because if it looks like they all can make 100K+ and Bird might make another 200, might not be worth a trade.

B Smith could be a cracker if he keeps getting around half a game, very interested. Garner, Mahoney, Radley are all on notice, you need a strong start boys.Don't think I'll be chasing Gillett at this stage.

I’ll probably be considering Capewell-Bird if Bird goes around 35 he will make same cash for $100,000 less! Would need to invest that well though to make it work though

Fairly happy with my start. Bird in the centres looked like absolute garbage but I don't care how he scores the points as long as he keeps scoring them. Loved what I saw from Munster, he looked very involved and looks a possible cut price keeper.

Little disappointed that Lodge got the role I was expecting from Ofa, Ofa played a very similar role to last year but looked better than Lodge did. Lodge threw multiple shit passes to his halves when he just needed to truck it up. Very little impact in his runs after his first stint. No panic at this stage as I think these roles will reverse.

On Gillett he looked very similar to the year that Mannering moved to lock (2016?). If he keeps that role can expect bulk tackles, not many runs or attacking stats. This will let Gillett/Macca anchor the middle in defense and leave the big boppers to be fresh to make metres. Not sure if Gillett has the fitness to keep it up but if he does looking like a must have

Agree on a lot of this. Happy with Gillet, far better than the 45 odd in 60 minutes I expected. Will only get better as he gets fitter, even if he plays more edge.

I find Croft's 45 with no attacking stats more promising than Munster's 50. Munster was in everything dominating the ball, yet Croft only scored 5 less.

Bird the biggest target for mine from that game. Disappointing I went with Kahu in my EMG instead of Bird after tossing it up for a few days. Will probably trade him in for Bird after that. With his 50 he'll go up 34k to 323k. Just enough with my huge bank of 39k!

Brandon was impressive too. But can't see him stealing much more of Finucane's minutes...

I agree with not being stubborn, what I was meaning was stick with your team for now e.g don't swap Taupau for Ryan James. Access next week after the whole round. You may have two absolute flops due to not getting expected role/or injury/or just useless where you can then trade to Bird.

I've had no1 play, for all I know they could all suck or they could all go well above break even. I have two players in my team which I already feel I wish I went with Staggs or Bird. They are Roache and Lawrie. Do I make the trade if they both get 35+, probably not. Can't get every cash cow.

But if I have a couple of midrange flops like Niukore/Radley/Capewell, I could go from him to say Brandon Smith and then Sivo to Bird/Staggs.

Not sure who said it yesterday with how fast paced the thread was moving but the idea that Glenn, Su'a and Fifita will get 60 minutes each is laughable. Why would Seibold waste multiple interchanges when they are needed for the big boys in the middle? Edge rotation looked exactly as I expected with Glenn playing 80 and the bench second rower getting 30 odd minutes.
