Cook will be staying at the Bunnies unless Parra give him 1.4 million a season, current nsw hooker and will get the Australian gig as well, seems very happy at the Bunnies behind that monster forward pack.

Depends on the mystery injury earlier in the season. If it was genuine i'd offer him 400, if not GTFO.No Worries wrote:Would you offer Hayne a contract for next year and if so how much ?

I'm sure once he signs a new contract the mystery illness will come back quickly

He is currently playing like a 500k plus centre/wing, so if he can continue that I'd be happy if we keep paying him. I've no reason to disbelieve the story regarding his illness and the club could easily verify it, which I assume they already have.

plus its prob a mix of having a shithouse pre season - its taken him this long to actually get some fitness
Plus the looming thought of having no rugby league income has prob put a few extra puffs into his lungs

The Parramatta Eels have denied allegations they have cheated the salary cap post 2016. Allegedly the Eels have been providing free or heavily discounted property rent to their players.
NSW Gaming and Racing minister Paul Toole has announced an official investigation is currently underway.
The Eels have released the following statement,
"The Club categorically denies that there have been any salary cap issues regarding players and property post the 2016 season."

It's only a mess if it's true, which it won't be.

A thoroughly well deserved Wooden Spoon for our absolute rabble of a side. What a shite season. We are just pooh.
Amazingly though, even though we won the Spoon, I'd still have the Cowboys as the biggest underperformers all year.
There was an interesting article in the SMH today that provided a model for a points based cap system and not surprisingly under that system, based around age, NRL experience, rep experience, Eels were one of the lowest, with the second youngest ave age in our team. That surprised me.
Bring on 2019. I'll call it now, we a certainties for top 14 minimum.

Asking the hard questions here, but what the actual fuck went wrong Ice? I had you and the Roosters in the GF along with a lot of others.

Nah, we were never a GF hope, we played well above our actually ability last year.
What went wrong, fuck, if I knew that I'd coach the bastards. We were inexperienced, rarely if ever got our best 17 fit and on the park at the same time. lack a top shelf 9, halves out of form and lacking confidence, backline totally inconsistent, terrible discipline and poor ball handling. Top it all off with a lack of ticker and it was just a shite effort all round.
I'm a huge Arthur fan, love the guy, and the players sadly let him down, but anything other than a top 8 next year and he is in serious danger of losing his job.
