Just to be clear, that quote was just in reference to the fact that the coach believed he played in 4 positions.
That being said, those trials often tend to disintegrate into games between a large number of players that aren't likely to see much of any first grade time, so I don't imagine that this is strategic insight, just an insight into that he's a pretty mentally strong 18 year old who isn't phased by being played "out of position".

He isn't going to be the bench hooker. He "could" be used as backs-cover or as a small middle (like Melbourne did with Papenhuyzen back in the day), but likely role at some point is simply starting 5/8 if Sullivan proves to not be the answer...
