4. DO NOT CHANGE YOUR SQUAD BEFORE OR DURING R1.
I cannot stress this enough people.
You may change your C/VC and who starts, int, reserve. But the 21 is the 21!

Every year there are 1-2 people that are dum dums, if I know who you are, I will publicly shame you on these forums.

5. From R2 you can play as normal.

6. Winner gets bragging rights and I guess I'll come up with a prize maybe

I pushed the autofill button, and let just say Autofill loves some guns and cows. Main squad looked great, but it required 8+ 230k players to work.

So I removed about half the squad - the cheapies that are nearly 0% chance to play, plus some expensive guys.

Then I pressed autofill another 3 times, adding 1-3 players the Autofill selected each time.

Then I lost patience and added 3-4 "fun picks", trying to ensure positional coverage, to get to the 21.

HOK
It's Damian Cook at Hok! This came up auto but been some chat about him being a good R1 pick so let's find out whether he's still cooking or is cooked together.

Backup is Tananananananah Boyd. A good draft pick that stinks of midrange here. But he will provide points and dual position coverage

MID
A few mid picks at MID were auto-selected in JFH and Arrow. Arrow has DPP.

It also went with the Baker along with Cook.

I added the next Payne Haas (Sam Hughes) and his teammate Curran

EDG
HopGOD - 80 mins or bust. Also has DPP.

Partnered with Wong - hopefully Wong is the right Roosters EDG!

You can move around Arrow and Curran here, plus a couple of CTRs have EDG DPP if named

HLF
Hynes over Cleary

Flanno will be a popular but risky nepo-pick

As well as Boyd the squad is gambling on Latu Fainu getting Tigers 5/8 once he's available. Autofill wanted both Tigers Fainu's every spin, so I did cut one

CTR
I know everyone loves this position so we have a few - firstly,  Stephen Crichton with his new club should deliver at, uhh, 620k

Then hopefully one of the off-season hype kids in Burbo, Jartwright, Iro gets a start. Two of them have EDG DPP, which is nice if they actually play.

WFB
Ponga is underpriced if he goes nuts like last season. Probably won't though.

Arthars is cheap and also has DPP (another CTR). More fun than Cobbo, I hear.

Have both the cheap but risky WFBs - Kini and Stewart. Again autofill wanted all the Raiders back so I showed some restraint here.

I added Tyrell Sloan in position 21 for the lolz. Might actually be underpriced for fantasy. Still the worst regular starter in the NRL for real life.

It has occured to me this team might not be a full 17 for R1. If it's really diabolical will consider switching some players out. Although it can't be worse than R27 last year

if you want to change the team do it now

Changing it in a week or 2 will likely result in a bunch of invalid teams who start off with this squad

IMO Autofill is better the less it has in common with people's actual teams.

If you start with half a team already in place there are less interesting decisions in the first couple weeks trading.

Both posts make good points. After some consideration, I'm leaving it.

I reckon it gets 17-18 on the grass R1.

And even if it runs 14/15 in R1 we're all in the same boat. And then there are interesting calls to make like you say - balancing points v cash gen v squad depth.

There's some truly diabolical selections here, but what the hey, that's part of the fun.
It's no one's principle team.

I agree with Michcow, you really don't want an Autopick team to be too similar to popular picks in main Fantasy land.
