    If Wighton where to leave - Which is looking likely.

    I hope we go all in on Jack Welsby and or Lewis Dodd as the replacement.

    As much as I love Jack Wighton, he simply is not worth 1.1m dollars a year - not even remotely close. Would rather spend that money on the two names mentioned above - Young exciting English talent.

    Think I’ve mostly settled on Carty Katoa Out, Cheese Manu in, but I could do Teddy instead of Cheese and that’s tempting

    Boring AF selection though, offers nothing other than tackles. Rumours some of the squad are not happy about trading him in.

    Without the try his score last weekend is fairly underwhelming, no? What are you expecting from him? Suppose at his price even 35-45 is acceptable?

    Kinda forced into trading Grant. Plan originally was to hold Grant till 13 but I need a MID this week and to cover Ford's bye as well. Only MID cover I have is Couchman. Had a look at other trade options and there is nothing good

    Appreciate all the replies

    Or not settled at all Laughing the way I see it now I have narrowed myself to three options:

    Carty Katoa -> Cheese Manu
    Carty Katoa -> Teddy Manu
    Alamoti Katoa -> Cheese Teddy

    Was interested in Crossland/Host, but as someone who couldn’t watch last weeks game, public opinion seems to be that Crossland should be playing less minutes to get the best out of him, and a 33 avg playing 60-70 minutes is not what I’m looking for from Host

    Would if I could, believe me I’ve tried, but I come up 20k short, which is why I need to pick 2

    Any interest in Nikorima?
    Still cheap and has a low BE. Could be the go

    Is Cheese a value pick? A 45 average gets him to 600k?

    Is that the expectation

    Yeah literally that - around 40 ish, but maybe mid 40s.

    Hopefully he can keep fluking his way to unexpected points.

    Yeah right. Isn’t there meant to be a rule where players a given a value and the nrl won’t let them sign for less? A guy who’s been offered 1.1million playing centre for 750k seems sus to me.

    This is a good point, but I'm pretty sure the NRL sets a baseline for what the player is valued at, and if the reported 750-900k range is true for what Souths are offering that's probably within the limit. An easy example (although I don't think he's actually been on the open market) is Joey Manu who would comfortably fetch 1.1m as a spine player but is taking unders at the Roosters

    I thought that after I posted, I think I’d prefer Graham over Wighton in the centres and they’re probably paying him less, and they’re getting crazy value for money out of Tass to be paying out the nose for a replacement, makes no sense to back up the truck for someone they don’t need when their forward depth is paper thin.
    Our forwards depth is solid mate we have Duncan and Lovett who the club see a big future in too especially Duncan.

    We are without Tatola, Keaon, Havili, Shaq and Knight and still are fielding this tonight…

    Arrow, Cook, Tom, Chee Kam, Host, Murray, Jed, DSF, Sele, Moale.

    I like it mate we are lacking X Factor in the backs it’s a reason why we have struggled in the big games no strike weapons out wide.

    We have had an issue on that right wing for a while Campbell is very good at the shit work runs and brilliant defensively but he doesn’t pass too much in attack. AJ is great at finishing but won’t explode out of nowhere. Tass is solid without having the ability to steamroll people. Wighton outside one on one is gonna create opportunities and can steamroll blokes he’s a class and a marquee player mate. Right now if our 1, 6, or 7 gets injured too we don’t really have any back up mate.

    Wighton would be a back ended deal, Cody and Cook retire after 2025 I think so that’s when a Wighton money would go up to 900k a year. I think next two years he would be on 750-800k.

    He wants to win a premiership too and I feel next couple of years our window is still open a hungry Wighton could be the X factor we need mate for that next level.
