This 100%, he fell off the attempted strip and landed on ITTs ankle, not remotely close to a hip drop

I disagree he's attempting to rip the ball out 1 on 1. He fell on the ankle yes but making an illegal tackle was not the objective. He will get off with a fine if not win a not guilty plea.

It doesnt really matter whether he's stripping the ball or not.

He's jumped and dropped the hips. Thats what a hip drop is.

In other news Latrell on track for a 3-try 60. Not sure that should excite or disappoint me.

If it was Burgess who did it and got sin binned there'd be few here challenging it. The fact it's our golden cash cow Preston that's causing the outrage imo.

It’s my understand that a hip drop is where you drop your weight on an opponent to bring him down which Preston didn’t do

Everyone has Preston, so it's not like it matters.

I just think it'd be stupid if players are getting binned after a successful strip.

Surprised how divisive this one is. I'm also with this take personally.

He dropped off the ball and landed on the ankle. A hip drop is dropping your hips will holding onto him which put leg injurys at risk

I don't think it's specifically aimed at people bringing their weight down upon another player, but rather dropping their weight in order to bring down another player. Usually the injuries occur when the weigh is indeed brought down upon another player, which is why they don't want people dropping their weight (via lifting the legs and leading down with the hips) in general.

I guess it's similar to how a shoulder charge doesn't always cause injury, but it can cause serious injury in certain circumstances, and so they outlaw the shoulder charge all together.

Yeah I should clarify, accidentally hip-dropped, but I felt the binning was a bit tough, but on reflection he did injure the player..

The issue with the hip drop is the player leaves the ground and is no longer in control of their bodyweight thus putting the ball carrier in the firing line for lower limb injury.

Whether he was going for a strip or not, he has left the ground, wasn't in control of his bodyweight which then landed on the player's lower limbs causing injury.
