If Jason Saab was base price and not injured I would have him in my team

You could have picked him up at base price in 2020 and he'd have stayed at base price until the end of the season.

You could have picked him up at base price in 2021 and 8 games later he would still have been base price (admittedly he did then go on a bit of a run.)

In 2022 he'd have cost you $369k to start the season, but you could have picked him up at base price by Round 8.

Casualty ward says Round 4. It's not unknown for it to be wrong.

EDiT that was Fox casualty ward. NRL says Round 3

I have both of those guys at 20 and 21 (TMM and HSS at 18 and 19), honestly don't see any replacements for AKP that are better - it's realistically Sloan (who looked shit), Moale (probably won't get enough mins) or BMM (could be out of the team at any moment and won't get his dual)

Half the time, the only reason you can get Saab at base price is because its a hard floor and they physically won't let prices drop any lower

That's not an argument for AKP, it's an argument for starting with less than 7 cheapies.

Yeah, I've edited my post. Fox says R4, NRL says R3. Fox is probably wrong.

Tupou from WT same price point looked really good as well, probably would get DPP if named but also probably same job security. Would be keen to punt if he got a go, Thompson would be more preferable IMO. Hopefully someone can find out some inside goss before start of season kicks off

Is the job security any different for both of these two ?

Just caught up on the last 30-odd pages to get myself into the mindset of starting to think about fantasy properly again.

Death, taxes, and people overreacting to fantasy scores in trials. Just look for the roles and fill in the obvious value! Some things never change, gotta love it Laughing Laughing

Can't be arsed making a million drafts this year just to inevitably swap out one cheapie for another or change a fringe EDG around based on the latest round of rumours and injuries. Burned myself out on that last year, just don't see the point in making a proper team until TLT, so running with a skeleton of players I definitely want to start with at this stage:

    Cheese
    Tapine X X
    E Butcher Garner
    Cleary (c) Doueihi
    Talau Alamoti
    Turbo X X

    Boyd Hopgood Katoa X

Fill in the blanks with whatever cheapies actually end up getting named, and fit in probably one more gun mid, one mid-range mid, & two mid-range WFBs (pick of CNK/TMM/Miller/Perham/HTF et al based on how the rest shakes out) around that.

Even that's probably too ambitious, one or two of those are bound to fall through between now and TLT.

I've been more or less out of the fantasy loop until this weekend, so forgive me if I've missed something, but what's the interest in Suaali'i? Shocked to see he's so highly owned (I know, I know, looking at ownership at this time of year is fraught).

Priced at 34 with a career average of 34.5 in 60+ minute games. Drops to 26.3 at centre or 36.3 on the wing. So at best 2 points of value if he's on the wing.

Is it just name recognition + hope that he improves?

It'll be a dark, dark day before I start with a 500k centre who isn't playing in the forwards and is priced above his career average. Feels like fantasy suicide.

    Has to be this.

He's not even the best centre in the NRL from his elite rugby school. At least not yet.

Maumalo got injured in the trial, his wing spot will likely be taken by Staines or Tupou. I don't think there's been any update on how bad Maumolo's injury is, he may even be fit for round 1.

Izaac Thompson has to contend with currently suspended Taane Milne, but every chance he just holds the spot in his won right.

edit: from Tigers forum it seems like Maumolo might be out for a while.

No serious coach is picking Sua'ali'i.
I mean did he even play in the trials? Why would you pick someone who didn't score tries in a trial game? Must be new around here.

I'm surprised Asu Kepoa hasn't been rushed into everyone's team after he started edge on the weekend and he is a $412k CTR/WFB dual.

Bateman is likely to displace him as soon as he's available, but that hasn't stopped people with Blore or Matamua (who are admittedly at least cheap to go with their poor job security) but he's about the same price as Seyfarth
