There's a scenario where you could use Cotter to cover hooker and Capewell to centre to cover any outside back injuries. Worst case if a half goes down push Ponga to half, Holmes/Gagai to FB and Capewell centre?

Just a thought, doubt they go that way.

Another poddy I watched with Kemp and Cam Smith, saying Hunt got MOTM in QLD’s game win last year and player of the series for 2 of 3 last series. Hard to not see him in there

NSW, I reckon one of the Parra props starts ahead of Haas. And there is a lot of media talk about Burton at CTR (Gould, Daley, etc). Still think Wighton gets 14.

Qld I have no strong opinions but looks pretty close to the mark.

    I think Qld wins 2-1

I don't get the point of Hynes over Wighton at 14 other than him being more marketable. Wighton covers more positions and offers more impact. Trbo shouldn't be there on form but 99% will be. I'm an owner, but I'd also put odds on Angus around 95%.

Yeah fair call. I think the guy who does that podcast is a big Cowboys fan and was just trying to make sure there's definitely a spot for Cotter haha

I thought Wighton would be in for a Ctr spot over Crichton, Staggs/Graham. With Nicho at 14. Gives plenty of cover.
    Wighton is made for Origin

As good a guess as any. One thing I'd say is that while he'd be one of my first picked for NSW, most of the "experts" teams I've seen don't include Frizell (usually Martin instead). Could open up a R17 genuine gun.

Yeah I don’t actually think Friz gets picked.

Injury last year, seems like an easy choice to keep him out rather than drop someone. Which is not how it should be, but NSW trying to do Qld style loyalty* which is why a washed/tired Jurbo also might get a run, and Sims is being seriously considered.

*Qld style loyalty has always been about 1. Winning, they ain’t that loyal when they lose. And 2. having about 26 players eligible before you get down to the Brenko Lee’s and Corey Allan’s

I would probably go for Wighton/Graham centre combo, with Nicho 14.

Hynes: FB, wing, halves, played a bit of hooker/roving middle for Melbourne last year

    Wighton: FB, centre, halves

I suppose Cotter on the QLD bench does cover that tackle bot role. Still be surprised if they dump Bunt.

If Wighton is 14 and a wing gets injured then you just move Crichton there and Wighton centre.

If Hynes is 14 and a centre gets injured then you have to move Murray or Yeo to centre, the forwards are weakened, and Hynes is redundant. Also not sure he can play wing to any standard.

Wighton effectively covers the whole backline (and could be damaging runner in the middle at a pinch), while Hynes just doesn't.

If the Wade Graham injury was serious, I suppose its more likely he wouldn't have been a late withdrawal ?

Yeah that's a fair point when you put it that way. I reckon in that case they'd just put Hynes at centre no? Sure he'd make a good fist of it.

He's a quality player, he probably would, but it's exploitable.

Maybe they should have Talakai at 14 Smile
