Paul Carter Award 2022 Empty Paul Carter Award 2022

Post by Milchcow Mon Mar 21, 2022 5:03 am

I think it needs to be resurrected.

For those who aren't aware, the Paul Carter award celebrates those rare players who are able to rack up negative fantasy points quicker than some thought would be posible.

Other than Paul Carter who was good enough to have the award named after him, other previous Hall of Fame negative players include the likes of James Maloney and Chris Sandow

This year we look to have a great batch of negative scorers on our hands, so lets keep track of their efforts

    Round 1

3 players achieved a great effort of -16 points
Jesse Ramien, Patrick Herbert and Haumole Olakau'atu all showed great start to the 2022 season

Haumole Olakau'atu gets the week 1 award, as he managed to get his -16 in less playing time with 72 minutes on the field. Ramien and Herbert both took 80 minutes to get their scores down

    Round 2

Week 1 was obviously just a warmup, as 11 different players scored more than -16 negatives that won the first week's award

Viliame Kikau, Jaydn Su'A, Briton Nikora, Kotoni Staggs, Sam Walker, Cody Walker, and Isaiah Papali'i
all score -17 to -20 points.
Good effort lads, but you need to fall off a few more tackles if you want the biscuits this week.

Zac Lomax got to -23 thanks to 6 errors and a sin bin. Still couldn't even crack the top 3 though

Ashley Taylor topped the miss tackle count for the round with -11, but didn't have enough errors or penalties to go with it, so sits in 3rd place.

Cameron Munster and Jeremiah Nanai pulled out all stops this week, to each get -28 points.
10 missed tackles each and a smattering of errors and penalties in a fantasy disasterclass

The fact Munster ended up on 45 points despite all those negatives is nothing short of a miracle.

The weekly award however goes to popular cash cow Jermiah Nanai. Melbourne going to golden point gave Munster an extra few minutes to suck in, so with -28 points in 79 minutes, Jeremiah Nanai gets the week 2 award.

Not a bad Carter week in round 3, with 16 players getting -14 or more

Jahrome Hughes and Kotoni Staggs staked their claim with -17 and -18 respectively.

But the Rd 3 winner is no stranger to negative points.
6 missed tackles, 1 error and 3 penalties conceded, along with a total weekly score of -3, sees the Rd 3 award go to Matt Moylan

    Congrats Matt

2 rounds at once because I didn't update last week

    R4
13 players got -15 or more.
Toby Sexton, a fantasy captain chocie to rival Isaako, acquired -17 negative points. Apisai Koroisau and Jack Bird went better with -18 and -19. But they were outdone by TC Robati - with 9 missed tackles and an error he won the round with -20 points

    R5
Little bit better this week. Only 6 players breached the 15 point barrier. Jeremiah Nanai looks like he'll be a regular here, with -15 this week. Daniel Saifit and Dylan Walker get dishonourable mentions for -16 and -17 each in under 50 minutes. Paul Momirovski wins the day with 9 missed tackles for -18 points on the way to a fantasy score of 7.

Poor old Momirovski, should probably only lose -1 point for some of those epic missed tackles on Staggs.
Being on the wrong side of the highlight reel all week is punishment enough.
