With the Cleary out, and everyone tearing their teams apart, I'm thinking of going all in on the Eels early draw.

Cleary and Tom Starling out for Mahoney and Dylan Brown

Leaves me 78k in the bank and the following side, thoughts?

    Mahoney (C)
    Ipap, Cheese, Bully
    Fifita, E Katoa
    D Brown, Ilias
    Penisini, Critta
    Teddy(VC), Papy, Coates

    Randall, J King, Tago, Schneider

M King, Russell, Vailea, R Jennings

It won't matter. Manly 40 Panthers 0 with any ball the Panthers get going left to Luai.

Did people think teams were similar when everyone had Cleary?

Just looking at the rate my teams seemed there was a fair amount of variety there

I just figure there will be a bit of a spread between captain options which make the first three weeks a little more interesting, and critical

Add to that, questions around when to get Cleary in (and can it be easily faciliated/etc). Round 4 is too early for any cows to have fattened up

Further, can we trust the "3 weeks". You kind of have to, but yah, will be interesting

Meant to ease up tomorrow, but conditions are going to be very wet for Sydney games this weekend.

Those relying on a bunch of centres in the 17 might be in a bit of trouble in those conditions

Swap Cleary out for Turbo and put Hynes in at half.

I'm ditching Tedesco. The lameness of him claiming to own the Squid Game incident (ie. not owning it at all) doesn't sit well with my boys.

Anyone else using freed up Cleary cash to bring in Tommy Turbo?

Also sucks in wet weather, due to slipping in short studs. Refuses to wear long studs.

While Cleary is a great defender, I'm not sure he's the key to all their defense.
It's not like a bye round where they were missing 6 or so Origin reps.

    Captaincy percentages at the moment

What changes in 2 days. Wouldn't be surprised to see Cleary still at number 1. He was top captain pick last year for most of the weeks he didn't play

    Nathan Cleary33.77
    Tom Trbojevic8.65
    Payne Haas4.95
    David Fifita2.83
    James Tedesco1.97
    Daly Cherry-Evans1.46
    Ryan Papenhuyzen1.35
    Jahrome Hughes1.19
    Isaiah Papali'i1.03
    Cameron Murray0.97

You're acting like the eels are making tackles. Fifita with 15 tacklebreaks, Fotuaika with 8, Fermour with 12, Herbert with 6, Brimson with 17, Campbell with 5 (It's not a missed tackle if the defender can't touch him) and then a few more spread around the 17. Barring a short kick-off the Eels probably get the ball once.

    That's my bold prediction anyway

With the predicted rainfall & weather predicted for the 1st month imo that gives Haas the advantage in the premium forwards i.e. Haas v I. Papalii v A. Crichton

Tom Trbojevic should take out number 1 due to non-serious players picking the most expensive option. For most people on here I think it will be split between Fifita, I Pap, DCE and Haas.

I would make captaincy choices based on the weather - I wouldn't decide to own/not own a player at all based on the round 1 weather forecast

Not just Cleary they are missing from last season, also his back up in Burton, Capewell. Definitely the B team compared with last season.

Panthers look like trash without him there to guide the ship as we saw in last week's trial.

I'm going Moses in for Cleary & Mahoney in for Cheese but that gives me 4 eels with I. Papalii & Penisini. I might move I, Papalii on to Haas or D. Fifita.

Actually looks like the 2nd most popular captain is "n/a"

Adding up all the captaincy percentages gets you to about 70%. Even with rounding errors that is a lot of teams that haven't selected one yet.
