King will start at lock, plugging into Finucane's old spot, though he won't play as many minutes. It'll be the first 20 minutes for him at lock (until Grant comes on), and then a 15-20 minute stint later in the game in the prop rotation.

Grant won't play 80 unless he absolutely has to, he had injury issues last year and they won't want to work him into the ground

So you are expecting King to start at lock in round 2 with all players back?

Moeroa if looking for experience too. Still only 26, but has been playing in NRL since he was 18.

Who can forget Moeroa starting the season a cashcow big-minute lock and scoring 3.

Most people on Cowboys forums are suggesting that COTTER will start at lock and T'LOLOLOLOLO will start at prop (maybe even of the bench). Can't say I have any insight into whether this was true but was consistent across the board with no-one questioning that this was not the case

What they want to happen and what actually happens could be two entirely different things.

No way Lolo starts off the bench they must be off their head.

Edit I just read their forums and yes it’s what they want to happen....

Kevvy is just giving him a good chance to stake a claim.

I think Billy wearing the 14 in round one should be paying about $1.20
i.e. can't see him getting the 6 from the start, but may well get a shot at some point in the season - we all know how Kevvy is happy to tinker with the halves combinations

Does Billy have enough upside to put in your EMG? Does he get a starting gig if there is an injury to the 6, Reynolds or Turpin?

I read on the Manly forum that Davey should be a ball playing lock with Jake on the bench and if Davey stays injury free he's a smokey for Origin...

You have to filter through a lot crap to occasionally get some useful info on those forums

I read on a forum all kind of speculation of where my POI is going to start in round 1. My POI has been training the house down. The nephew of my brother's friend knows the waterboy at the club who has inside information that confirms this is the case.

Davey for Origin? Jurbo for Edge? That'll be a bit of the crap you have to filter through.

Davey isn't playing the Manly trial, don't know if he injured but the only ones not named are Walker/Harper (all stars), Crocker (minor injury), Jurbo (not sure) and Davey. Lawton is 9, Bullemor 12 and Keppie 13 in what is otherwise a full-strength side.

EDIT That team is from the Manly forum. Not officially out yet, so guess we'll see.

I don't share everyone's confidence that Bellamy is not going to play BSmith at hooker for significant chunks, particularly early in games. Of course, that would allow extra minutes for middles. But Storm have various other roleplayers eg Jordan Grant and Loreiro who might get on that bench in front of King.

Also, fairly sure Meaney will be 14, playing the bench back/extra floating support player role that Bellamy consistently uses.

Agree with this. The 1-2 punch of BSmith and Grant at hooker worked incredibly well last year and BSmith leaving next season won't change that

I also thought Meaney was signed as a Nicho Hynes replacement that could play fullback, centre, wing and in an emergency halves. Obviously slightly different skillset but good utility option

Anyway I’ll trust Beth take on Storm mins for their players.

Being a fan of a team doesn't give you magical insight into how the team works. Most people around here watch every game every week and have more of an understanding on how teams use their rotation

EDIT: the last few posts above me prove exactly that

The lower a team is on the ladder, the more outrageous the positional changes suggested on team forums are.

Lawton 9, Bullemor 12 is the worst round 1 Manly team from a fantasy point of view.

Prefer Croker to be in 9 for some certainty around Schuster's position in case Lawton is a chance to get it.

Although Manly used 4 different edge pairings in the first 4 rounds last year - the position may not have the jobs security we think it does. And Schuster might not even miss that much game time

Keep an eye out for Tom Chester at fullback for Cowboys in their trial.

Being talked up by his team mates as a standout in pre-season. Would make a great utility on the bench. Plays fullback, halves, hooker and last season played lock. Could be a great option instead of Granville.
