and the other 11 games? I am a long long way from a coach, but I think this small lock position may be better described as a hybrid LOCK / 2nd 5/8 (or third half) kind of position. It is not too much of a leap for that person to start taking minutes of a starting HLF who is being eased into a role towards the end of the game. Anyway, as Lchy said, this may be too out-of-the-box to make sense, but I would not be surprised, if Ilias plays less than 80 for some of the season, without wasting a sub. At the very least, he could be a risk of pumping out mundane scores. It is not like Souths are short of players who cannot play big minutes. Thet were also one of the number one teams last year for minutes played by bench players

Nah, you will fuck up a rookie halfback by pulling him off at the end of games, he needs to learn to play a full 80 and get experience closing down games to be a complete player. Ilias is the groomed replacement for Adam Reynolds, not just some schmuck thrown into the 7 because Adam walked- they certainly won’t play silly buggers with his development.

Magic Round is only 3 months away. What do we think, fanatics? Can we get a bigger crew this year?

The reason they "allowed" Reynolds (and Gagai and Su'a) to walk was that they'd fucked up their cap.

    Good info on vaccinations.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/league/127719722/im-not-antianything-unvaccinated-joseph-tapine-to-lead-mori-all-stars

It says that after getting covid players get a 4 month exemption where they arent required to be vaccinated. It means guys like NAS and Lolo are likely to have issues a few rounds into the season, unless they change their stance, or contract covid again.

    Tapine hasnt received an exemption.

How many NRL teams have ever had a game plan that involves regularly using trades on their starting halfback.

If Ilias isn't playing 80 its because he's been dropped, not given a mid game rest

Dragons tried this in 2019 with Hunt/McInnes/Norman/Widdop/Dufty spine rotation mid game. It went about as well as expected

Schuster injured syndesmosis. My Manly mate tells me it’s a bad one. Gonna be out for 10 weeks or so could be early May when he’s back.

Croker likely to miss early rounds too. Well hello Karl Lawton I say. Davey could be in the mix too.

They have no Aloiai the first few rounds either.

Davey getting a decent run would make everybody happy

No doubt we'll soon start seeing rate my teams with Davey as starter that still contain an additional four $240k nuffies on the bench

Also this is good for Bullemor as he can play both middle and edge.

My guess is Bullemor starts on an edge.

Lawton is likely hooker round 1.

Makes both edge and hooker simple now. Suddenly have lots of cash to play with.

May be a trap if Lawton plays hooker for a round or two but Croker returns and Lawton goes back to 14 and plays 30 minutes.

Croker will go straight back into starting as soon as he's fit though. He's only out short term isn't he. I wouldn't think the Manly round 1 hooker would be a good bet, whoever it is

Lawton could also go back to starting in second row.
