What about the other 33 players though? Did they keep up with all of them and just missed the one bloke by so much or did they not look as close at the others on the review? My annoyance with it is more that I think they are missing decent chunks and cleary might deserve those updates but I feel like it's hit and miss as to whether others get the updates they deserve too. Just think there is already all kinds of hidden bias (not that they actually have favourite players, but that they would obviously be conscious of highly watched players).
Anyway complaining about the scores is like whining about the ref, won't change the outcome, gotta suck it up and learn to milk the penalties and work the refs or be good enough it doesn't matter. So with that said, that's my one whine (today) about it.
I think (without really looking in to it) with Cleary and O’Sullivan last night, they just touch the ball so much, so more stuff gets missed. Kick metres need to get double checked and they often have lots of short runs which are more probably more difficult to compile than one run off the back fence. And therefore more updates. It’s a difficult job taking live stats and most of us are watching a few players per game (and still debating those). Those poor bastards have to do 26 at a time. Cleary’s try last night was close to the final whistle and had a myriad of different stats which they didn’t add right away.
And on the flip side you have a spud like James Roberts catching a cold out in the centers never getting the ball so rarely updates. Usually downdates when they pick up his missed tackles.
Anyway, I agree it can be frustrating, especially if updates reverse a H2H result, but I also think the right score (or close to it) is better than live stats being final. In reality, they need more people doing the stats, but there wouldn’t be enough $ in the kitty for that.
