One that I keep swapping back and forth - Tino + Munster for $1.245m or Crichton + BMM (maybe Milf) for basically the same.

Already have Cleary, CHT, Lam so Munster makes it a half heavy draft.

Better to go for a proven keeper than two borderline guns right?

Seen a few mentions of Twal. Is there an appeal there that I'm missing?

Was obviously great playing that big minute middle role, but it only really happened 4 times last year from round 2-5 where he played 67, 80, 76, 80. Post-injury his highest minutes was 62, and mostly in the low 50s range.

I would have thought with Tamou, Ofa, and Utoikamanu signed there aren't huge minutes up for grabs. Do people think he'll get that big minutes lock role back?

With substitution rotation, every team is pretty much required to either have a big minute hooker, big minute middle, or end the game with a different line up than you start with.

Assuming that every team starts and wants to finish with best 13:

    Sub 1 - Mid 1 off - Mid 4 on
    Sub 2 - Mid 2 off - Mid 5 on
    Sub 3 - Mid 3/Hook off - Mid 6/Utility1 on
    Sub 4 - Mid 4 off - Mid 1 on
    Sub 5 - Mid 5 off - Mid 2 on
    Sub 6 - Mid 6/Utility1 - Mid 3/Hook on
    Sub 7 - Edge 1 off - Edge 3 on
    Sub 8 - Injury cover

Of course HIA and injuries mess up the rotation pretty much every week, but most coaches rely on either hooker or lock to play the big minutes. Few exceptions like Haas but it's generally the guy in 9 or 13

Madge has confirmed that both Liddle and Simpkins will spend time at hooker this year, leaving me to believe Simpkins will be on the bench as 14 from the start. This means one of Twal, Tamou and Ofa will play bulk minutes. Based on what we have seen in their careers I would say Twal is most likely

Disclaimer: Some coaches (Like Ricky Stuart and Trent Robinson) will occasionally end games with a different 13 than the ones they start with

The logic is way I avoided Starling last season. Typically bench hookers play 15-40 minutes for 10-35 points, but Ricky made his own rules and played Starling for 50-60 most weeks

I am sure he will get a few queries about his future, but not sure he will give anything away.

Good analysis, if Simpkins is on the bench I'll definitely be more interested in Twal. Although looking back Brooks/Liddle were on the bench for several of the games where Twal didn't play huge lock minutes. I guess the difference is Eisenhuth was still playing big minutes too?

I think its good to be thinking about your team at the moment, which players might be useful, and which you probably want to avoid. Even if you aren't actually logging into the site every 5 minutes to put in/remove a player because they were mentioned in a pre-season fluff article.

I think if you come in blind the week before the comp starts and start asking questions to yourself like "who is this Shawn Blore guy" and "I wonder what Lachlan Lam will score like this year" then you might be a it behind the 8-ball

Somewhere between the two I'll put something together.

Have we lost any FF recruits, any long termers had a preseason hissy fit or some life altering moment ?

There seems to be a consensus on the Manly forum that Lachlan Croker will be starting hooker this year. Anyone game? Just 307k.

Just made my second attempt at a draft before we head into trials, final team news and TLT… I still am not happy at all. Not liking the look of my cheapies and I feel like I could be setting myself up for failure

    Grant
    Yeo BMM Lodge
    Crichton Riki
    Cleary(C) Fogarty
    Averillo Niu
    Turbo Isaako Laurie/other cheapie

    Brailey Liddle Watson Lam
    Blore Ford Saab/246K Simonsson/246K

    Roughly 230K leftover

I feel like a need to find a cut price keeper for MID. I know others have weaned off but I am super keen on Fog. I just feel he jumps up to a 55+ scorer this year falling somewhere between 55 and 60. I feel his floor climbs a little higher and he has that ceiling to bust out 70+ scores.

Time to site back, contribute where I can and wait until TLT before I get my final team going.

Naden has apparently dropped himself to reserve grade via DT

"And despite “training the house down”, his agent confirmed that the 25-year-old felt it was necessary to regain both he and the club’s confidence by commencing the new season in the NSW Cup."
