I'm personally going with Moses as my gun half, but Munster is firmly on the radar. I think both are capable of taking that next step and closing the gap.

I'd much rather go with a player who has a lower average due to injury (Moses, Munster) rather than form (Brooks, Milford)

    Good analysis MS

I was initially against picking any of Haas/McInnes/Cleary as they were just so much more than everyone else and a big chunk of salary cap.

But if any of them can maintain a 70+ average, (and everyone else stays mid 60s at best) then I am starting to think you need one as captain.

It won't be Haas (unless we get some indication they'll flog him for big minutes again) so I am starting to consider either McInnes or Cleary to come in as captain. Whoever is most likely to keep up 70+

If I run with one of the "big 3" it will likely be Cleary. Agree that Haas probably won't maintain his average without an increase in attacking stats and the Dragons seem to be doing everything they can to piss of McInnes. The difference between Cleary at 70(140) and Cook at 64(128) can really add up over the first 10 weeks. If that is worth the extra ~100k we will have to wait and see

I don't think Riki starts. It will be Glenn and TPJ i would say. I also can't see Asista starting. Carrigan needs to start 13 to have some no nonsense starch in the middle. If Riki is in your team it is an easy swap for Davey I would say who has a greater chance to start on the edge.

Also McInnes what is the go. Would love to hear some feedback from the coach or heads of the club as to the reasoning they feel this guy does not fit into their team.

I have to admit, I'm a little gutted to hear McInnes might be signed by the Sharkies.

Eyeing up losing an $800k/year Russell Packer to gain a $600k/year Cameron McInnes is an NRL Fantasy. Nevertheless it shows the Tigers recruitment/management must have big expectations on how good Jake Simpkin will be (as it certainly can't be based on Jacob Liddle - who's not bad, but no CM9)

Everything still points to Pangai playing lock though. Riki and Glenn have been training on edges with Oates and Bullemor the other options according to Terry Matterson.

No confidence in the coach’: Shock claim in McInnes-Griffin contract stand-off

Dragons captain Cameron McInnes reportedly intimated that he preferred ex-St George Illawarra coach Paul McGregor’s style to new boss Anthony Griffin.

McInnes is locked in a dispute with the Dragons over his contract which has threatened to escalate over the last few weeks.

He comes off contract later this season and there are a number of clubs thought to be interested in his services.

Complicating matters is the fact Griffin is hoping to land Broncos hooker Andrew McCullough on a two-year deal, which would force McInnes to playlock.

According to veteran radio host Ray Hadley, McInnes is not a fan of Griffin and preferred being coached by Paul McGregor who was sacked asDragons coach midway through the 2020 season.

“If he [McCullough] signs, you’ll see captainCameron McInnes start the season at lock,” Hadley said on 2GB on Monday.

“Now I want to give Cameron McInnes a tip, but when the coach was appointed – Anthony Griffin – he was carrying on.

“He’s the captain of the team he’s entitled to his say. [But] It’s not a really smart move to say I like the other coach better – Paul McGregor – and Idon’t think this bloke is as good as him.

“He didn’t say that exactly, but that’s what hemeant.

“Given he has no confidence in the coach, I’d imagine the coach is saying I need someone who’s got confidence in me and you’re not one of them.

“So the Dragons may face an uphill battle to retain Cameron, who I think spoke prematurely as sometimes young blokes do.

“Maybe he’d be well-placed to come out now and say, ‘look I’ve now got to know Anthony Griffin. I think he can do the job and I hope I’m part of the plans’. That may redeem him in the eyes of the coach.

In an interview with Fox League on Monday, Griffin said that McInnes had been allowed to test his value on the open market.

The potential exit of McInnes – the Dragons’ best player over the last few years – left NSW coach Brad Fittler stunned.

Fittler, who called McInnes into his Blues set-up for last year’s end-of-season series, told SEN’s Drive with Joel and Fletch.

“Anthony Griffin’s got his idea around the type of players he wants and I believe Andrew McCullough is one of them,” Fittler said.

“But I don’t know why [they’re risking losing McInnes]. If he’s at your club, I wouldn’t be letting him go.

“[He’s] such a great bloke to have part of a team.

“It’s so hard to get those fellas. [McInnes] is going to be invaluable.

“He defends like a lock forward and can also play out of dummy-half. I think his value only goes up with the rule changes.”

I think one issue is the Dragons aren't that happy with his actual dummy half work. Doesn't matter how many fantasy points he racks up if his distribution from dummy half isn't good enough to help them win games. And their on field results over the past few years suggest changing something up would be a good idea.

I'm not sure any of the options being talked about as a replacement are any better, but I can understand why they may want to look for someone else

I think I’ll avoid McInnes now.

If I go with one of the big 3 who avg over 70 last year it’ll be Cleary.

I think I want Cook as well and Taumalolo/A. Crichton.

Not sure if I’ll have the room for Teddy as well.

This can work if you do well at saving trades leading up to Origin.

If true, it would be the straw that breaks the camels back for McInnes wanting an early release.

Mcinnes to Sharks is official for 2022, both clubs have confirmed it. Have to think there is a high chance it happens earlier

    John Morris (via NRL.com) -

"He can play lock equally as well as he can play dummy half and that versatility, especially in the modern game, is very attractive to our club. Cameron has been brought mainly to play lock and will complement Blayke Brailey at hooker in a potent 9 and 13 combination that should have all Sharks fans very excited.

"He's a winner and we are very pleased he has agreed to join us in 2022."
