Yeah - it sounds great when you're twenty-something and single, to leave your family behind and go and live on 'Footy Island' for a few months. Maybe not as appealing at the latter stages of your career, or with a young family of your own at home.

That said - I hope they do get something sorted because it would certainly make our pseudo lockdown more bearable.

I'm still in the 'believe it when I see it' mindset at the moment with all this.

    Ponga (suspended this week)
    Horsey

    JTB
    Guler
    Walters
Luai (may lose his spot to May from round 5)

Others in some of the teams towards the top that have players that will be likely to have reduced roles at the restart include:
    Fuimaono
Hard to tell what Aubbos role will be with Cordner back and Morris in the centers, likely shares the role with Crichton
    Kennedy
Hopoate (likely out of the team when back to full strength)
Musgrove  (just playing shit and a problem to remove)
    Stimson

Expecting there to be a pretty big shake up at the top after the restart. Many of the players that got them to the top are suddenly a problem, all at the same time.

Players with medium term job security are in trouble too.

But so far I haven't seen anything saying how the season will work, right now I am treating it as nothing more than plucking a date out of someone's arse

I was super sceptical about the season continuing when it was still on, now i actually think it’ll be back at or very close to 28 May. For cynical reasons.

If it starts in May, the fact the NRL is desperate for cash flow will be secondary to the fact the NSW state govt is desperate for more gambling tax revenue.

V’Landys is a horse racing guy first. Horse racing has never stopped in NSW.

On the fantasy, I say keep 2 trades for R3 and let everyone scramble to fix the holes. Would reflect the chaos of the season nicely to have most players crippled for a week or two and others come through.

I don't know why people think more trades will be given. I expect this to happen

Noticeboard on fantasy website: Interact as if next round is round 3 and use/reverse 2 trades. If there is a shortened season it would obviously require changing of trade restrictions and then they could allow extra trades to fix teams

Yeah I think it’s both will and should happen (even tho my team will be screwed).

Trades might increase if any teams don't make the new comp or if a bunch of players get excluded.

Its too early to say with confidence what direction they'll go, if there are only 13 more rounds, will they reduce trades, or effectively let us max trade every week?

From this article, it doesn't look positive. As wag on Reddit commented, it looks like the NRL has gone full Leroy Jenkins....

"Doubts over the NRL’s intention to restart the competition in May have been highlighted by Australia’s deputy chief medical officer, Paul Kelly, who expressed his concern over the risks of returning to action too soon.

Earlier, Brad Hazzard, the New South Wales health minister, said he had not been consulted on the league’s plan to resume play in seven weeks’ time, which was announced on Thursday following meetings of the league’s innovation committee and the ARL Commission.

Channel Nine, the competition’s broadcasting rights co-holder, has also claimed it had been left out of talks over the resumption proposal.

Speaking on Friday, Kelly said he did not believe the NRL should be considered “a law unto themselves” and that the league and its players, like the rest of country, have an important role to play in attempts to control the Covid-19 outbreak."

But with only 2 rounds done, surely a shortened season won't mean extra trades anyway ?
