To do what? I mean surely they aren't going to have him start over Moylan or Townsend. He offers nothing off the bench when compared to Segeyaro.

My guess is lack of confidence with Holmes at FB and Moylan gets that gig. Gives them two kicking HLFs as well. Unless it's depth but I really like Hodkinson.

Also any RTS interest in a potential return to form.

For Crichton - he has a killer season last year, and I have doubts he will be able to maintain it.

You could argue he is underpriced due to a few bench games at the start of the year (averaged 33 his first 4 games before going on to average 66 for the rest of the year)

But the combination of leaving souths, losing a finger and just having so many things go right last season (fantasy wise) I just think it will be hard for him ro replicate it.

Cleary is similar in that he had a good year last year. No reason to think he is underpriced, so people are opting for halves that they perceive have a bit more value in them to save some cash (DCE or JT being the common two gun halves for value) or just going Pearce for out and out points.

TTurbo pops up in supercoach teams a lot. In fantasy I think people prefer Teddy and can't afford both.

TTurbo will be in my team at some stage. Haven't found a way to fit him into my initial team.

Cotric is another player id like in my team as soon as poss. Seems to be a mansour type winger available in the ctrs

I'm wondering if there is any FAQ for this year? Obviously with the $$ increase in all areas, I'm wondering if some players are no longer worth it or is it scaled so it's the same as previous years, just with a higher ceiling?

    Thanks

I don't think it's any different just relative. Price is a persons average times 14645 vs times 9500

Wish theyd have just kept the player pricing the same and adjusted the cap to suit. Head still thinks a 500k player is a gun

Yeah mate definitely. Too hard to put together a strong 17 otherwise. Even a couple of your 17 might need to be cheapies. With less players this year though thr key will be getting the right cheapies, cos making money from them will be even more critical.

A bit of a shame but it seems like the cash constraints this year are going to push everyone into very similar sides. Hopefully some more cheapies emerge to give a bit of variety in picks and a few real headaches in choosing those last few spots

    Somehow I managed to fit 4 guns into a team, provided Carty and RFM gets a start;

    Smith
    Fifita Lodge
    Harris Murray Arrow
    Watson Carty
    Milne Hiku
    Teddy Ponga Nofo

    Licaa
    Cook
    Garvey
    RFM

    Cleeland
    Croker
    Kikau
    Kennar

I don't mind this to be honest.

Well currently there are no basement price ($212k) players that you can be confident will get a run. Maybe Doueihi from Souths will get a bench spot.
Tom Wright might jag a spot for Manly. Trials might throw up a few other options

Going up to $228k options improve.

    18-21 have 2 functions
    a) Provide cover if one of your starting 17 missed a week
    b) make money

    Ideally they do both.

Some of the cheapies may not score well enough to make decent cash, but they might be worthwhile to have in your team anyway as half cover.
Lachaln Croker, Richie Kennar are like this. Sure they might end up killing it and making a tonne of cash, but you have to be prepared for them to flop it as well.

Its a good starting 17, but depth is terrible.

If Fifita or Teddy go down for a week you will cop a big hit.

Its a risk I think a lot of people will end up taking though. Hopefully some good cheapies turn up in the next month

No smith a deal breaker here?

    Cook
    Fifita, Lodge
    Brown, Murray, RFM
    Croft, Carty
    Aitken, Milne
    Teddy, Ponga, Inglis

    Lichaa, Watson, Havili/Garvey, NAS

    Croker, Kikau, Isaako, Wright/Kennar

    Bad idea missing Smith?

If lichaa and cook both picked as 80min hookers and you have other captaincy options then not having smith is not a deal breaker.

If i go no smith then i might just capt teddy 1st round and role the dice early! Prizes dont really justify the time spent to try and win the thing!

You want someone who averages 60+ to use as captain.

History has Shown Cam Smith reliably does this, but he is not the only captain choice by any means.

Last year Crichton and Taumalolo were the only other 2 players to average 60+

Guys like Mannering, Fifita, Gallen, De Belin can go close.

Someone may make the jump up this year (like Crichton, James have done in past years)

True but I think depth will be hard no matter what unless a few clear cut cheapies get a run.
