Does anyone think McGuire actually might score less at lock (I have gone cold on him to start with), he isn't really an offloader or tackle breaker, he just gets tackles and run metres. Whilst he might be on field slightly longer (increasing his tackle count slightly) I feel he will have less run metres so he could score less than his 48 average.

I don't think he'll score less but not sold on him at all. Best thing about him is his DPP status. Moving to lock and playing a few extra minutes isn't going to suddenly shift him to genuine gun status. We'll see though

I agree, though all the talk from the last month is that Ese Ese would be there ahead of Ofa. Its a little confusing to me.

Maybe they see Ese Ese as more capable of denting the line since he will only play small minutes anyway?

    @Milchcow

So based on your French and Gutherson comments should I revert to my original pick 3rd WFB after RTS and Hayne of Gutherson instead of Holmes or French. I have the coin

    Personally I wouldn't pick French.
I could easily be wrong but I think he'll find it hard to sustain last years scoring.

Holmes could go OK, but I don't want to start the year with him (he might not even be fit for round 1)

Anyone think that Bromwich is a good shout to start the year and could get more mins than the 60 average he got last year? Especially with pretty much two 80 minute second rowers out for at least the first 8 rounds.
This probably takes some middle minutes of Bromwich and NAS to the edge and senior prop capable of 70+ minutes could pick some up?

    JBromwich   65
    Smith         80
    McClean     45
    Faufusi       55
    KBromwich   60
    Finucane    60
    NAS           35
    Glasby       40
    Stimson     25
    Leulaia       15

    Broken down into playing groups

    Smith         80

K Bromwich 60 (20 mins more than last year)
Finucane    60 (limited pre season, averaged 61.5mins last year)
NAS           35 (5 mins more than last year)

Faufusi       55 (sharing right edge role)
    Stimson     25

J Bromwich   65 (5 mins more than last year)
McClean     45 (5 mins more than last year)
Glasby       40 (5 mins more than last year)
    Leuluai       15

This doesn't account for injuries to backs which could mean J Bromwich could play some big minutes this year to start.

Time for the tin foil hat based on that Broncos team.

Bennett played Kodi Nikorima bigger minutes last year so that he would re-sign. Now that the Broncos have him locked up with Hunt on the way out Nikorima will spend the year in QLD cup preparing for a full time halfback role next year. Combining Parker retiring, Thaiday probably in his final year and a heap of young talented forwards at the Broncos Bennett can start bringing them on with bigger minutes preparing for the future. Broncos team could look something like this.

    8.Sims
    9.McCullough
    10.Blair
    11.Thaiday
    12.Gillett
    13.McGuire
    14.Glenn

Other then Elgey doesn't look like many good half options.
Maybe Field, maybe Nu Brown. Maybe Hingano and hope he does enough in 2 games before Foran comesback

Second row also looks pretty weak for viable players under $200K.

Choosing which gun half to start with is my biggest dilemma. SJ, Norman, DCE or Thurston

Halves and 2RF. And FRF is pretty grim too actually. Picking the right ones is the trick. Anyone think Moses Leota is a chance?

He falls into the same category as a few others, probably only gets 20-25 mins. Seems like a reasonable shot to hold his position in the 17 at very least.

You have no back rower playing 80 mins or more than 60. I find that very unlikely

So no Niko makes McC a must have at the price surely. I'd be worried about Niko turning up a few weeks down the line
