Could easily swap out JDB and Whitehead in that squad I just put up. Mannering is definitely in consideration for that first 2rf slot

I assumed Mannering for a set and forget point beast, and with Matulino out with knee surgery. Doesnt make much money, but saves a trade and just earns points consistently.
Also Surgess being a non origin player from Rabbits. Best bye schedule

Just trying to make a team on the test site and notice Idris's price has gone down to $148k. Don't know if this is permanent...

Ideally Gurgess needs to be back playing 50ish minutes to return to the gun of old.
How do we see the Rabs pack starting out? Not sure he is worth it coming off the bench

    Farah
    Tyrell
    Sutton
    Turner
    Surgess

    Cook/Clarke
    Musgrove

Starting to consider Ash Taylor over Nathan Cleary

Should get bulk km especially if paired with Elgey and GK duties, $363,000 so relatively cheap for someone with the potential to be a fantasy gun

    Lads, how are we?
New to the site, so I'm here to pick your brains, though been playing Fantasy since 2010 (Dream Team days)

Just wondering if anyone has PPM for KBrom and Barnett?

Also Bren, I'm wondering if most are wanting Cam over Manners as a captain set and forget option. I'm leaning towards Bodene this year as he is selected less than Manners, and slightly cheaper. Will definitely partner Surgess in my backrow.

Last years formula of spending F* all in the centres to start seemed to work well for me, so glad there are a few cheap options in that position this year.

Welcome to the forum mate. Are you playing NRL Fantasy (nrl.com) or Virtual Sports (DreamTeam)?

Cam is so far ahead of the other hookers its very risky not to have him especially in a two player position. There is a case to not have him until after origin this year as he will miss 4 out of 8 games.

Surgess is a must given his gun status, DPP and the byes.

Manners has had of season surgery, missed the four nations, scores through tackles mainly, so given the warriors so called easier draw I can see why people aint picking him. He could drop in price and also have some spells if the warriors have some games in the bag. I think Bodene Thompson is a great pick. Not sure if he has much upside though priced at a 54 average already.

On your cheap centres, last year I had Croker all year and got BJ in early on potential (after watching a few games) and that went a long way to why I finished top 25. They finished a good 5-7 points each ahead of the next best centres so that was 300 points alone better than not having them.

Building a team is more a balance of points, conserving trades, making money. I find it a lot easier to start with 1 gun in each position as it helps knowing you can just set and forget these guys.

Cheers Mate, definitely stick to playing just Fantasy.

Yes I generally always start Cam as a set and forget, but I feel he could drop $50k in the early rounds. If Peats has no bench hooker to contend with, Im tempted to go with him in the early rounds to make $50k+ and then upgrade, saving $100k at the expense of a trade.

Cheers for your point about centres, could very well be the difference between my placing and yours last season haha.
But me being in Finance I play a conservative game by hedging a solid consistent average through the Forwards and Halves with guys that produce good base stats, before I take high risk at the backs who rely on attack stats and generally have a lower floor, although sometimes higher ceilings.

I guess it depends on where we can find value.

I noticed a difference in my position last year by purchasing fallen guns once they lost a bit of value, but definitely keen to try something new to go to that even upper echelon of rankings.

Welcome mate. Good point re Smith. I think you can pass on him if Segeyaro signs for the Sharks but it doesn't look like that will happen. With Smith you either buy him round 1 or round 20.

Who will you captain if you don't have Smith? Fair point this year re centres. I will be going top heavy this year also as I feel the cap is a bit tighter (given the lack of halves and hooker cheapies we have this year compared to last year).

With news of no Segy for round 1 I think I will lock in Smith and McInnes, then will have Fifita, McGuire and Surgess as forward guns.

Just if I don't have Smith and Fifita to start with I won't have them until after the byes, given they miss 4/8 and 5/8 games respectively.

How come the AFL comp is open even though it starts a month after the NRL comp? Doesn't the same company run both games?

I guess I'd have to do Captain roulette if I have no Cam. Probably Surgess though. At the moment I'm planning like there is no Seggy. I'm also watching Parramatta and Tigers in regards to hooking value if there is any 60min+ cheapies for my bench HKR. If King is to start and play 80, then I'd roll with Smith & king.
Otherwise, there could be value in having Peats & McInnes depening on their teams' bench make up.

    Proving a tricky position.

It's interesting hearing how some of you successful fantasy players chose your teams last season. On that note, is there any way to see for example, the squads of the top 3 teams last year by round and ranking?

    Cheers

I think maybe Scouter, correct me if I'm wrong, finished about 20th and there were a couple not far behind me. Also I think there was 1 guy who posts on here but was late getting in on the leagues finished better than all of us.
