Maybe they simply aren't mercenaries and just play for the love of the game and the good of the club.....like Corey Parker.

Yes and maybe they are all so incredibly stupid that they will sacrifice 400-500k a year of guaranteed money.
There is "doing it for the love" and then there is "im a fucking dumb cunt who should have got a manager"

Knights are preparing a double raid and going after Holmes and Bird for season 2018. Hard to imagine that we'd get either but I'd love to have them in our squad. I truly believe the papers are just throwing us in with anyone who is off contract because we've got the money to sign players.

That is 100% what is happening HS.
What ever team is shit and has a bit of cap room (or if a team is named the bronco's) anyone who is off contract will be linked to them by the media.

I still think the Val Holmes rumour started when the fucking Lurker or Mole read it on here months ago.

I highly doubt we will get holmes, bird or ponga or even Barba - though would "happily" take any of them to play fullback for us.

Hannant retiring may free up the cash for Ponga to stay at the cows now too. They might be a bit thin on front rowers next year the cows, considering Tamou is gone, Scott has an ongoing neck issue, Hannant is now gone...

Thats massive news. With Tamou now at the Panthers the Cowboys front row stocks (aside from Scott) are looking incredibly mediocre.

DWZ about to re-sign with them too.
They have basically re-signed their entire top squad this off season. Amazing stuff....

    Bird
    Ponga
    Holmes
    Daylight
    Barba

that would be how I would hope our list management is looking at it.

I'm willing to bet that we don't get anyone and end up with someone like Beale or Joel Reddy.

Or worse, Jake Mamo or Jaleen Feeney

I would prob prefer Holmes or a punt on Ponga over Bird.. but would happily take any of them.
If we cant get the first three, have a crack at barba.

Sharks priority is Bird And Holmes. No way they are going anywhere.
As for Hannant, he was toast two seasons ago. Totally lost all form and zest.

The guy has been recurited by Union, AFL and League.
The experts obviously see something good in him so it might be a steal with the increasing salary cap if he ends up being as good as they think he will be.
If not, oh well, we took a punt on someone who was supposed to be awesome and it hurts us for 5 years. Its not like we were going to win a comp in the next 5 years anyway.

I still doubt we get him, even if that is actually the offer, which I agree, is huge and silly. But if its what we gotta do to get him then so be it.
