    It was a great game

Kelly deserved player of the match but Tonegato and Davis were also good.

    Yeah real good game.

We saw late there why we should get rid of the bunker tho. Qld score a great try from a kick that would have won them the game. The idiots in the bunker call it back because the winger (who caught the call) was about 5m offside. Might of been correct but thats just outrageous. Clearly better result if the bunker did not get involved

Interesting is a very generous description.
Could you imagine the uproar if that happened on Sunday night and cost either side victory.
It may have been a poor pass, and it probably was forward, but it was definitely a pass.

I’m the first one to bag sport of lower quality, and sometimes that is the women’s games of various sports but the quality on show in that game last night was excellent, and it was a very entertaining style and speed of play.

Shows where more investment in the game will eventually take the NRLW to. And very proud watching southwell, Johnston, and kernick

Loomer wrote:I agree with Gus again with his rant recently that NRL needs a draft pick system to avoid these hegemonies

Draft system wouldn't work in the NRL like it does for American sports or AFL.

In American sports they have an entire dedicated high school and college system to develop talent before they are later (via draft) assigned a club team. In the NRL juniors are picked up as young as age 10 and funneled through a development system maintained by the clubs. For a draft to work the entire development of a player would have to be done by independent teams with no NRL affiliation.

Would have to look something like this

Under 10s-15s players are playing exclusively for local club teams with the removal of Harold Matthews competitions. If you local club team is shit tough shit there is no pathways so you better hope your talent shines.
Under 16s-20s players get first crack at the all stars junior teams and come together for Jersey Flegg style under 20s comps. These would need to be run by bigger but non affiliated clubs and would play exclusively against each other
Age 21 - All players would enter draft where last years wooden spooners get first pick.

Unless the junior devleopment system is going to be run by NSWRL/QLDRL/Country RL with the kind of funding NRL teams throw into it then it simply won't work

I reckon you could comfortably set the over under for number of times Burton kicks the ball to 3.5

It's hard to structure a set so that your centre is the main kicker of the ball without leaving a hole in the defensive line

    Thoughts on the weekends games?
Hoping Tonga can upset NZ, Fiji with Kikau and Kamikamica can go nuts & even though I love NSW got a feeling QLD wrap it up in Perth.

If you're into punting & draftstars I've left a link to our previews & data tools etc in the Draftstars thread Smile

How would a draft fix anything? The good players would still leave a shit club to play for a good club. Youd get even more whinging

The shit teams have trouble attracting top talent because they are run poorly

Attempting to get some interest for a central coast meet up again this year.

    https://www.nrlfantasyfanatics.com/t1960p20-5th-annual-nrlff-meetup-sydney#633290

Roosters vs Dragons 3pm Saturday 16th of July at Central Coast stadium

Meet up before/during/after game as you see fit

Last weekyear was a decent turn out with SI, Chewie, Revs, Teeth and myself

Good chance to put some faces to names as well as have a few cold ones  Beer

Let's be honest if you are reading a fantasy football forum during a bye weekend you are probably the target audience
