I just called the Caxton, they're currently about 2/3's booked for Saturday ~lunch time.. that's in the restaurant area. Tables in the bar areas/outside are just walk up, no bookings. There are a few other options in the street.. id say Brewski, Hotel LA, or maybe Fritzenberger the best bets..

Thoughts ?

I think making a booking is a good idea, as likely to be a bit busy on the day and best not to leave it to chance. Happy to make a booking but don't reeally know what is good.

I really like Brewski which is just up from Caxton st. More of a craft beer vibe and the food is good. Not sure what everyone else is into though.

The tables on the street there are great for atmosphere pre game, which should be good on Saturday lunch time. Will contact them if we are interested.

Hotel LA is just another pub in the street, its fine I guess.

Around the other side of the stadium is Newstead Brewing and there's also the Paddo Tavern..

Just checked, and there was an availability for Brewski on their online booking, I chose table for 7.. midday was the only option. Booked it.

I'm happy to get there at 12 to make sure we get the table, if that's what we want to stick with.

Last Magic Round the bag checks were very light, to the point we were able to bring in 2 litre soft drink bottles on both Saturday and Sunday. Of course you can prefill these with some of the good stuff if you want to go hard.

They were also selling full strength beers and spirits all day which ended up pretty messy by the end of the day

Haha classic. You sure they were full strengths ? They do a thing at suncorp where they sell what appears to be full strengths but they are a "weaker" stadium only thing. They do sell full strengths in the corner bar tho.

I still smuggle booze into the cricket every year.. vodka in those 1ltr juice cartons...

That said in the last year or so ive scaled back on the amount ive been drinking. Havent had a proper biggg session in a while actually so it shall be interesting.

I was a few deep when we moved onto the stadium drinks so could be wrong on full strengths
