that's a question for him I guess, the rumour started from a instagram picture he posted of the 'Welcome to the home of the Brisbane Broncos' sign with a pen & paper emoji, his next post was ''You didn't really really believe it, did you??" with laughing emojis and a pic of Ledger-Joker, so i'm guessing he was in Brissy for some reason and saw an oppurtunity to cast a fishing net and see how many he caught.

I mean, sure? Im still confused as to why someone would a) come to Brisbane for holidays and b) when in Brisbane, visit Red Hill.

Google tells me Broncos Leagues Club is 5.6km from the backpackers in the middle of the city. Thats a long way to ride a Lime for an ordinary counter meal and cheap pots of XXXX.

Pretty well just confirms what we already knew about the Broncos being the benchmark club off the field.

Similar really to when tourists flock to Old Trafford/Anfield/Wembley stadiums.

In the same way we should be receiving concessions for all the heavy lifting we do for the NRL's TV ratings, we should also receive some sort of benefit from Tourism QLD.

haha, how is this really that weird?

if he is an aspiring coach/trainer like his insta bio says, then it makes sense to check out our facilities and maybe do some networking.

Oates signed. Fifita likely off to Souths. Not ideal.

Second year in a row where we don't start OR end the season with a home game. Rubbish.

On the upside, no five day turnarounds, and a heap of Friday games.

haha - see I don't mind this as I like to spend round 1 glued to the couch consuming all the fantasy news I can.

If we played a home game in round 1 i'd be on the piss and either A) missing key news, or B) making horrible last minute team changes.

Gillett retired. Existing injuries so will count towards the cap.

that's yet to be determined, the club is certainly going to apply for concessions given they've listed a severe shoulder injury suffered this year as the cause.

Yeah' defo, as with Burgess, existing injuries,  but I think in both cases as long as the club doesn't have to pay out the player the remainder Of the contract it shouldn't count towards the cap. Means Fifita should defo be able to be retained so goodnews for the Broncos. A solid career for Gillet and all the best to him in retirement.

Probably a top 10 backrower of the last 10 years or so.

Not sure what the contract situation with him is. Googled it and can quickly see in 2016 he signed a contract through to 2020, but the Foxsports article says he was contracted to 2022.

You'd think if the 2020 date is right he'd be right as he broke his neck after 2016, but could be different if he signed an extension. I agree with Ice though. Moving forward I don't think it should be included in the cap if the club doesn't have to pay it, but I guess it isn't always that simple.

Personally I think he was one of the most under rated players in the comp. He was brilliant. Last year though he wasn't the player pre his injury.

On a separate note, this might well have quite a few flow through effects. Making an offer to keep Fafita or get someone like Brodie Croft or another halfback is the obvious one, but maybe also convincing them to keep Alex Glenn, which also makes him a very real captaincy option.

Coming back and playing the season after breaking the neck would suggest a hard sell to medically retire him based on that. No insurance company will pay that. As Sumo said they need to somehow make a rotor cuff strain career ending.
