Butcher is someone we have been waiting for in Fantasy, in a similar vein to Jai Arrow. I have Butcher in my 18-21 from a couple of months ago. He will go though as no hint of him getting a crack at this stage.

Hey lads, there will be a few places potentially available, and also an L9 if there is enough interest. So everyone can continue to register until Monday midnight for the Latecomers League. If we do open up L9, then you will be required to join both Leagues by Wednesday night midnight. Anyone who isn't in BOTH Leagues by then will be replaced.

Again, L9 may not go ahead, depending on interest. Apologies in advance if you are not put in a League, but positions are not guaranteed at this late stage. If you are new to the forum, we generally open the Leagues registration about a month out from 1st Lockout if you want to guarantee a place for next year.

I have posted the above in the Rego thread.  No guarantees on anything as stated.

TPJ is one of two players (the other NAS) who I've always thought would absolutely kill like Taumalolo at fantasy if they got the minutes. Hasn't been in any of my teams so far but going to be hard to resist as a starter.

Bird is struggling isn't he? Back round 6 or something?

God I hope this is wrong. I don't rate Su'A and he proved nothing in the games he played last season. No where near best 17 and can't believe he might get picked for round 1.

I’m building my team around them and Murray. Last year I kept trading in blokes I thought would be good players pre-season but didn’t include them originally and ran out of trades way to early......again. So I’m trying something different this year. Pick ‘em and stick. I also think McInness is a good POD. He’ll only improve and I think Saints will be top 4. I’m leaving Smithy out early weeks. I don’t like Lodge as much as the hype. Nor Arrow with Cartwright and a heap of other back rowers there. I think Nikorima will relish the full time HB spot and come of age. Cotric will go next level. Anyway, I’m sure things will change between now and next week.

    McInness
    Eisenhuth, MCGuire
    Murray, Fitzgibbon, Cartwright
    Nikorima, Croft
    Kennar, Cotric
    Ponga, Tedesco, Hiku

Cook, Griffin, Nicholls, Croker, Kikau, Leilua, Isaako, Katoa

    My must haves are Cook,

Like the cotric pick. Im sure i read somewhere that Brown is going to rotate his backrowers mins around so might be bad news for fitz

Isaako will probably be this years Feeney. Admittedly he has only played 1 game so its a small sample size but he did play a full game at fullback against the Knights and only managed 13 points. He'll play a couple of weeks then disappear, replaced by Bird (if ready) or Opacic.

If Fanhub had previous stats and history available instead of concentrating on projected scores (which I doubt any serious player uses) then we would know more how Isaako accumulated his stats

Oh man Amen to that !! Projected scores are the least mooked at stat by myself. So uninteresting and pointless.

I wouldnt completely write him off just for having a quiet debut. In last years qcup he averaged 44 with 9 tries in 23 games. Note he was also goalkicker. 104 tackle busts so around 4 per game.

That said, I think it probably wouldnt translate to NRL. I think an average of 25 would be on the cards..

He is a good footy player though and I do expect him to end up in our side long term, eventually

Here is the new predictions from NRL.com for the lazy among us.

No Brandon Smith and Jacks on the bench. No Cameron King with Kaysa at 9 and Will Smith 14.

They've still got Fonua on the wing and no Marsters, so yeah, maybe they just did a quick skim and made a couple of changes.

yeah found a few more questionable choices to their lists, at the top of my original post. How does NRL.com get this so wrong, I think the average fantasy player could predict more accurately Laugh 3

I hope your right because he may end up in my side if there are no other basement price players to chose from.

Fair enough he had a quiet debut but most debutants have good solid games, hence scores, but for him to play against a wooden spoon side at fullback and score as shitty as he did has me think "Feeney 2.0". At least Isaako is in a good team which should translate to a few tries.... hopefully.

First crack at a team this year:

    HOK C Smith
    FRF P Vaughan, D Alvaro
    2RF J McGuire, B Cartwright, S Burgess
    HLF C Munster, J Thurston
    CTR T Milne, P Hiku
    WFB B French, M Dufty, K Ponga

    Interchange: S Havili, V Kikau, L Leilua, L Croker
Rest of squad: N Butcher, J Isakko, B Hampton, C Thompson

Might be too light in the 2RFs, still working on what best tactics will be for the new 21 man squad setup. I'm thinking you want almost all of your 21 playing - can't afford to carry nuffies from the start this year.
