YEah Taia was good Fantasy wise, particularly at the start from memory. Will be interesting if he is priced out this time.Welshy87 wrote:2 second rowers i will be checking $$ for are Whitehead and Taia coming over from the super league
both were class for the catalans last year, had Taia in his last year for the knights and sure he did pretty well fantasy wise?
hoping they can be my mid priced second row gun stepping stones

Very inconsistent from memory, would hit some 80's and then hit some 20's. Plus Origin/injuries were a killer. I think he was one of the best WFB's before TB's came into play but could be wrong.Honeysett wrote:How did Billy Slater used to go? I reckon he could be in for a big year

He started one year (2014?) with three consecutive 100+ scores.

I'm pretty sure I've got them somewhere, Milchy might have them as well.Clack Bocks wrote:SI wrote:

This he is a very inconsistent scorer. 2013 he averaged 40.43 points and 2014 he averaged 43.85 points.
In 2014 he had the 7 games with a score of less than 30 points, and 8 scores of 50 or more points. (21 Games played)
Throughout the entire season he can make it worth it, but for a bloke with injury concerns and Origin duties (Whether he gets them back.) there are better options.

Tapine should be an interesting pick for next year. Sims missing the first part of the season and Houston being shipped along. I can see Rochow and Smith starting along side of him.

Will Whitehead and Zeb start for their respective teams? Gold Coast pack is terrible so Zeb should slide in there next to Bird and James but what about Whitehead? Can he displace Fensom, Soliola or Papali?

He's a solid player as well, good at finding the gaps and breaking tackles.

Depends. If they can't get another "bigman" Big Papa might go back to the frontrow to accommodate the team.

Do one of you guys want to take over the Souths/Panthers team for the trading game we have going? @SI is AWOL in the game.

Will be extremely surprised if Whitehead isn't starting in that pack, regardless of who is there! Guy is class

Whitehead sounds like he will burst under pressure.

Do Canberra even Prop? Can see Papalli having to start in the front row rotation.

Paul Vaghan, FPN and Boyd my top props at Canberra. If Papalli moves into that rotation from time first served on the paddock in 2nd Row then I believe there is still not be enough minutes to justify Whitehead's price for time spent on the field. (ie price will not be that of a rookie). I think NRL fantasy will learn from Soliola's pricing last year and name Super League imports at a much more realistic price based on their performances abroad.
On a side note, here's hoping he goes gangbusters and the Raiders have a good season, playing the same sort of exciting brand of footy we saw in 2015 ... with just a pinch more consistency!
Am I right in saying that most people regardless of who you support have a soft spot for the Green Machine? Not a hugely disliked team and one you can cheer on when your own team isn't playing that day.

Re: 2016 NRL.com Fantasy pre-thread
Soliola was priced fine for his 2014 stats. He played 14 of his 30 games from the bench.
Fantasy pricing doesn't try and make predictions about how players will perform in the current year. Whereveer possible it just puts in an objective price based on data available for prior years.
So Whitehead will be more expensive than Soliola, not because they thought Soiola's price was a mistake, but his 2015 superleague stats are much better than Soiola's 2014 stats.
Joe Burgess will likely be inflated too, because he scored 21 tries in 22 games this year, and they'll include that in his pricing
