Sorry for not being clear, but my assertion of Mahoney being a better hooker is part of it. I try to look at what system they’re playing in as well. I do think that has a lot to do with it. So looking at what I perceive as a lesser quality hooker (given his age and injury history) in the same system as Mahoney who to me personally (each to their own) is far better and averaged 46 there last season, I wouldn’t think Hodgson would outdo this. It’s just an opinion and absolutely subjective.

Side note I do think Mahoney will finish with a higher average this year as well based on my same thought process.

If both players are fit, there is no universe where Mahoney is a better hooker then Hodgson (Coming from an Eels fan). The issue, obviously is the guy has had a lot of injuries, managed 1 game in 2022 and 9 games in 2020. Having said that, he did get 20 games in 2021 years ago. So there is hope. He loves a TO so I see him scoring well if he stays on the park.

This is the most interesting start of the season I've ever been a part of (4th year). Likely going to see some really diverse approaches to the start of the season, and a big difference in scoring for the first few rounds.

I'm anticipating that choosing the correct guns will be a gamechanger this year, more so than usual.

Suli had a higher floor than Holmes and Bird last year and has his first bye out of the way in R1. He is also 40- 60 k cheaper. I am expecting him to average 40+ and increase his value. Take of his injury affected game and he averages just 4 points less than Manu (for games at CTR only) with an equivalent floor for 170 k cheaper. Holmes and Manu will play origin. No byes between R2 and R15 and and I will be certain to have 17 players for R1. What is not to like?

I love a good conspiracy, but Joey Manu is a Kiwi, no Origin for him

Yes I saw it. I think you have 1 cheapie too many and it could affect your ability to generate cash if a couple of them flop which is likely. I think you need a stronger 17th man.

I thought they changed the eligibility for origin for players born in New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific Islands but perhaps THAT was the conspiracy?

2 cents worth but I think 'former Manly enforcer' Big Marty Taupau signing for the Broncos has SFA impact on Carrigans minutes.

Maybe Haas won't have to play 1,000 minutes every game or something????.........nahhhhhh

Any idea of how many minutes young Piakura (250k) will get. I thought I saw somewhere that he may be in the running for Riki's starting spot?

Are the Bulldogs becoming the new Roosters (endless salary cap)? Burton upgraded, Addo Carr,  TPJ, Mahoney, Kikau, Crichton. All big $$$ signings. News reports they are after Moses as well for 2024. If that deal comes off you got to be asking questions right?

Does it worry you that dragons seem to have gone backwards as a club whilst most teams have made big improvements

The point being outside backs (suli) get less ball, more missed tackles, more time standing under his goal posts, lower scores?

Isn’t this somewhat contradictory of itself? I get the point and Hodgson is a great HOK but the reality is that he can’t be considered “fit”. 30 appearances in 3 years has to surely be considered so. These are things that have to be considered and his running game was his greatest strength, as I said before I wish him nothing but the best but he’s one awkwardly jinking run away from retirement.

Think I'll start with very cheap centres but look to get one of the Roosters pair in after their fourth round bye as a season keeper. Gonna be interesting to see whether Suaalii can gun it fantasy-wise in the centre.

Similar aspirations, what worries me is that first round game against the Dolphins. Roosters will shell them like peas and a huge score could quickly kickstart Suaali’s price and make for some awkward decisions.
