Cheers mate and thanks to everyone here for making this place what it is, limped into 11th with having to play Koula probably costing a top 10 finish, but reached my goal of a FOG L1 start next year so will need my big boy pants for that.

2nd could still yours - less than 30 points to overall winner and without Cookie for the final 2 weeks.
    Absolute gun.

    As for the humble Bludgers.
My goal of a top 1000 finish has finally been realised (after 8 loooong years living in the 2000+ realm.)
Currently (updates pending) 756th, 35th in the FOG, I think this means L3 next season (Yikes!)
Thanks to everyone on here who makes this a great place to share a passion for NRL and Fantasy league.
See you early 2023 for the mandatory pre-season chat about which players "are no-brainers" and who will go to the next level.

    Season 3: approx 3k
    Season 4 (2023): top 1k? Let's find out!

    Good ol' fashioned slog:

Speaking of 2023, voila 2023 underpriced excel

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17dgsoxLHCsJgqDsE_lnOvCfQuiSnjfdX/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=102514615540522564282&rtpof=true&sd=true

    Early view:
CTRs back to being an absolute disaster, could barely find an underpriced CTR
Cleary & Murray underpriced with 1 in season average
Need to be able to pick Storm EDG and not the actual players
    Not many Dolphins...

Got just about every 50/50 decision wrong to start the year but managed to fight back for a finish around 2400

If you're gonna be all "lol, he screwed up", "rookie error" you might want to actually have finished in the top 10k once in a while, or at least be a bit more gracious in how you say it

Thinking a converted centre might be able to average 60+ seems like a more laughable rookie error to me

Nah I reckon it wasplaying the man not the ball here

Go back and all Matt says initially is he needs to play Rapana. That was it. Which was correct. And he gets jumped on. For being correct.

Anyway come for Tapine, stay cos Matt’s in your head rent free.

Congratulations to DK and all others who finished with a top 50 ranking and to those that hit their PBs also. I’m happy enough with my rank of 941 before updates seeing as though I ran out of trades 4 weeks ago and consequently paid the price having to play Lolo,Palasia etc this week especially. Looking forward to next year and I’ll see you guys that play FPL over there

    Congrats DK, massive finish.

I managed 919 so top 1k is good for another year. Made some questionable decisions, so aiming for top 500 again next year.

Well done to all those who had great seasons, by whatever your measure is

Alas, I was not one of them - 4145

Better than 2021, which was a train wreck. But much worse than 2019 and 2020. At least gained a couple of thousand ranks in the last few weeks

I think my last trade sums it all up

Last trade: Frizell to punt on Sharks back. Choose Ikuvalu. Friz only gets 20. Still outscores Ikuvalu by 3. He had a HIA where his replacement for 12 mins scored a try and outscored him.

If I’d traded Friz to a red dot I get Vailea 36 and do better lol

Horrible week for me. 749, dropping from 180th to 320th and more importantly from 12th to 19th in the FOG so I have to slum it in League Two next year.

Well played DK and all the other top 50 finishers! And well done everyone else in the group for sticking it out, enjoy your Mad Mondays

And Matt may have left it until late in the season, but he did finally get one thing right with the Rapana call.

Finished at rank 18 overall. Never been this high after many years so absolutely stoked to have finally cracked the top tier level. Top 100 was a goal once I was heading up there but to finish top 20 is unreal!

Some great ranks here. Well done, everyone.

A disappointing season for me. After ranking around 330 last year, I finished at 2412 pending updates this year. Some reflections on what went wrong:

    * I was way too conservative with trades early on. It meant that I missed some cows who ultimately turned out to be no-brainers like May and Tago. The huge injury toll of last year + some fears that there'd be lots of late withdrawals due to COVID meant that my strategy was to hold on to trades early and make a move at the end of the season. I did improve ranks towards the end, but nowhere near as many as I thought I would. COVID and injuries didn't hit anywhere near what I expected, and it would've been possible for lots of teams to have burned all their trades early on but still have enough players to play with to put up good scores.

    * Chose some of the wrong cows early-ish. Taaffe, Martin, Tuilagi, Bullemor, Amone, etc. Guys who seemed OK choices on paper, but were actually terrible. I really needed to rely on the eye test more.

    * I brought in some players at the exact wrong time. Turbo, Ponga and Papi all got season ending injuries the week I brought them in, losing me points, money and trades. CTR roulette didn't really happen for me this year. But WFB roulette kind of did.

    * I over valued squad balance at the beginning. The aforementioned concerns with COVID and injury meant that I prioritised having cover for every position from the beginning. Cover still seems important to me, but not THAT important at the start when ample trades can rescue you in a pinch. This lead me to starting with Erin Clark to have HOK cover, who was OK while he lasted, but I could've had a higher scoring Tago for cheaper with some extra cash to splash around the remainder of my squad. Next year I won't be placing as high a value on cover early on.

    * I gambled and failed in 'catching up' in the Byes and it lead me to bringing in players who were ultimately duds or dud-adjacent and took up the spot of potentially much better players, e.g. Mahoney, B. Smith (got suspended immediately), as well as keeping duds way too long, e.g. Ilias who scored 0 in Round 17 anyway, and Te Maire Martin, who didn't play at all.

    * I missed both Cook and Murray. Could never quite work out a way to bring them in, and I'd hide behind the couch each week as they racked up another reliably excellent score.
