How do people balance the strength of starting 17 Vs strength of 21 squad?  I've tended to go for a balanced 18-19 squad to cover injuries/outs.  But it means the starting 17 is weakened,

For example, my 18-21 is currently Lee, Ilias, Pole, RFM.
Plan is to trade Lee to Doueihi and play Doueihi in my 17.
I will bring Bird to position 18.

Bird is a lot of cash to hold in position 18.  Trading him to a cheap CTR (to retain cover)  would allow an upgrade to one of the uber guns I wouldn't otherwise afford (eg Cook).

Historically I have used a strategy and held Bird.  But wondering if I should be considering the alternate?
I'll be running a.weakend 17 for a stronger 18-20 and a looper. If price rises.go my way will have this team next week and 3 trades just won't have ctw cover.

    Cook
    Haas Yeo Angus
    Ipap Harris
    Cleary Moses
    Tago may
    Ponga hynes latrell

    Mahoney fifita Elliot AD

    Ming rfm mam looper

Questions of the half inside you need to be asked if a second rower isnt scoring a try in a season.

What would be a realistic points target to overtake by end of season

Currently 6th in Storm league, 350 behind leader

50 per week probably too difficult given 4 extra trades limits opportunity to make a big points difference in last round

Considering I fell for every shit Rabbitoh this season (Tass, Taaffe, Peoples), wasted 2 trades on Sexton and had Billy Smith in R1, still pretty good season to be 135th live ranking

To be fair the NZRU seem pretty tone deaf when it comes to their announcements and what their fans want.

I'm tearing my hair out over it alright.

As if retaining Foster wasn't bad enough, recalling that woman-bashing cunt Shannon Frizell (Tyson's brother) is beyond the pale.

Normally I'll aim for a playable 18 because it seems like most weeks someone is out

If I was closer to the top I'd be more tempting to get the "best" and hope for some luck

Cane still being captain takes the cake for me. I'm not a Canterbury fan but Whitelock seems like the logical choice.

Between Frizell and Reece it's like the NRL up in here

Once the byes are over I've found it incredibly hard to even make up 50 a week. You have to be consistently better and have nothing go wrong to even do that. A single week of your PODs being crap while their PODs hit a ceiling score can undo 3 weeks worth of gains

Depends how many trades 1st has too.

But also you don't just have to overtake 1st, but the teams currently in 2nd-5th as well. You can make up decent points on 1 team above you if you have the right set up. Harder to do it to 5 teams

Not the first and won't be the last unfortunately.
Sevu Reece the other one. Neither copped a conviction thanks to their profiles.

I'm thinking this. My 18th and 19th men are Koula and Kennedy and normally that would scare the shit out of me and I'd play for depth across the park. I'm tempted to stick with that and put everything in my 17. My ideas might change tonight if Koula gets a 15 tonight however.

My 18 and 19 are RFM and Booth. On the flipside my 17 could be better

I'm reasonably happy with my team - just taken far too long to get there.

    Robson
    Haas, Angus, Lolo
    Ipap, DFifi
    Cleary, DCE
    Aitken, Tago
    Teddy, Latrell, Hynes

    Hastings, Barnett, Mam, Cheese,
    Walsh, Tass, Pole, Matamua

Next week Walsh and Mam can become Cook and Gagai, leaving me with 3 trades.

Wouldn’t worry thinking too far ahead, once you’re out of the eliminator this week, is there any reason worrying about the rest of the season?

I hope my footy player blokes score lots of touchdowns tonight because I can't swap them for new ones anymore
