yeah true that. avg 36 now is fine if you played him every week. Not far off SCrichton

For initial team he was fine, you can't be strong everywhere. I was alternating between him and Berry to start with until I could get a proper WFB sorted

Sure wish I had jumped on that Aitken boat in round 1. I'm gonna wait til the bye in the hope of a price drop, but that isn't looking likely to me.

Not sure there have been any terminal mass-forum decisions this year...

There's no doubt that starting with Moses would have better than starting with Sexton for a lot of people, but Sexton was far from a universal pick. (Moses, at around the same price, was a bit of an oversight in pre-season discussions though).

Billy Smith was a sensible pick pre-season. Again, not everyone went for him, but those that did could either correct early or have a handy looping dot.

Tass looks like a bad buy. Talakai straight after his tonne had plenty of warning signs but still could be a centre keeper - just that money could have better placed elsewhere. Think he was probably more popular off the forum than on it too.

Stefano was a popular guy preseason who didn't do what we expected, but hardly a terminal pick.

Big problem for many has been overtrading and jumping off eg. Tolo or Burton or even Ted (or even Hynes) too soon, but again not unique to this forum, except the last part.

Think the main key for starting sides might have been the four $750-$800k forwards at the start of the season (Haas, Cook, Angus, Difita) where most people could afford two of them and the people who started with Haas and Cook (or Murray or Grant) would have a serious leg up.
Agree with rhinoceroo, the biggest regret I have from pre-season team set-up is choosing D.Fifita over Haas (I grabbed I.Pap so he could have slotted in as premium Edge). This cost me many points and a safe as houses captain pick for the first 4 rounds.
However, I don't blame the chat/analysis here in the forum, I made an educated guess that Fifita would blitz it from the start. No one could have predicted that Holbrook (or his spine) would shit the bed so spectacularly and negate Fifita's running/TB/tries game.

spoiler alert, it'll be groundhog day to start 2023 with David Fifita. The titans will go on a run towards the end of the year when their season is mathematically alive, but realistically gone. Fifita will score a bunch of 80s against teams who've given up, or teams that are coasting and get caught out. Matt will wax lyrical in February about how this superstar is ready to live up to his potential and people won't be able to resist, only for him to do the same thing he did to start this year, and the Titans will still be shit.

If Fifita finishes the year like he started, I'll certainly be tempted again next year to get him in as a cheaper guy with the potential to go massive.

I blame my choice to get Fifita on that one run he did early in the all star game. I was on the fence about him, and then that said to me "he's still got it" and I jumped all in like an idiot.
That said, the all stars game probably confirmed Hynes for me as well, as was a bit iffy on him too, so it wasn't all bad.

if he was cheap sure, probably ends the season averaging 58-60

will bring him in after origin when the Titans start playing footy (traditionally, as mentioned, when their season is over)

Considering just getting Gutho this week...I'll hate having to watch games hoping he actually does well but he's probably a decent option

Looks like BHunt gets a stay of execution since I'm trading Pap and Jones. He's always been a bit rocks or diamonds, surely overdue for a couple of those diamonds...

Hynes was always a lock for me so long as he was playing alongside Moylan, especially with his DPP in the tricky WFB position. Almost annoyed he did so well in the all stars game

Looks like a missed a great night of argle-bargle with Loomer on the bibble. Nothing beats a night of gobbledygook and jabberwock on the forum.

I'm a grudge holder, so won't pick him up even if he kills it. interested to see how many start iPap next year in the tigers system. Will be a wait and see for me.

My starting squad is always price dependent. If Ipap copped a couple of low minute HIA games to reduce his price I would consider starting him. But if "priced at average" I'll probably look elsewhere

I suppose if you don’t like any options from the first bye then if you look at specifically the second bye for your WFB then he’s probably not a bad option.

I think of the non origin WFBs that will actually play either of the byes then Manu, Gutho, and Edwards would probably be the best 3 probably add Garrick in there?
